assuming everyone returns, i have come around to the idea that we really dont need a brady replacement. i am more than comfortable with puff/trez/mckoy/leaky/washington at the 4 biggest need is a backup justin knox-like 5 need one more transfer for that tho (assuming kerwin is gone who i will miss and also dawson who i will not. good riddance)
good riddance all the ic guys are trying desperately to not say the family stuff was a cover and they’re failing at said task
I wouldn't say it was a cover, think he genuinely wanted to be with his family and who could blame him, but at the same time I do believe he wanted to find a way out of UNC and this was it
fair. the whole team laughing when asked if they’ve talked to him kinda gave up the game imo. wasn’t a good fit and everyone is better off now
ben says there is gonna be another update later this morning on the departures/returnees not gonna be a productive morning
mando and ben kinda let the cat out of the bag. assuming a spot opens, terrence shannon from texas tech will be a heel next year
would've thought that ship would sail unless Caleb declares in the next day or so, but the usual suspects are saying they're trying to make it happen regardless would just be silly
i still think a backup center is the top priority but gotta trust hube at this point leaky at the 4 is doable but he loses a lot of his value not guarding their top wing so idk how i feel about that. shannon makes more sense as a super sub 6th man i think totally forgot he was that kid at img that listed unc in his final 5 even tho we never even offered. he's chomping at the bit to get on the team
also means the staff is expecting ant to leave imo. which sucks because i loved watching him play. there really arent many other candidates for a transfer outside of him and kerwin (dunn and styles dont make sense and mckoy would have to sit a year)
and ant is in the portal hate how things ended up with him. he was a breath of fresh air in the 2020 season. hope he kills it wherever he ends up at
legit makes me sad, had such a soft spot for the guy and his energy even during these last few months simply from the bench he was one of those guys that in year 3 or 4 everyone falls in love with
yeah i know its not really a big deal for our future ceiling and we'll replace him with someone better but i will always have a soft spot as well for him. that stretch before his injury in 2019 was so fun and i loved how he hung around all year and didnt pout guessing the leaky announcement comes here soon. then kerwin enters the portal tomorrow followed by shannon announcing within a day or so and then we wait on caleb just a fantastic threading of the needle from hubert
quotes from Caleb, reading the rest of the post I got the impression that he's leaning towards coming back, could be some confirmation bias going on though
rooting for him but don’t really like that. he’s so limited and i am not sure how he changes anything
Regarding Kerwin, yeah he's one of the more expendable options and in the professional model I'd be looking for the fo to make a move so we could bring in some post depth. That said I'm not gonna be upset over a kid who earned a scholarship sticking around to fight for a spot, and I'm still of the opinion that even with his athletic limitations Kerwin's nowhere near as hopeless defensively as last year made him look. Will be interesting to see what happens between him and Dunn.
think it's safe to assume what the roster's gonna look like now RJ/Trimble/Caleb Caleb/Dunn/Kerwin Leaky/Styles/Puff/Kerwin/Nickel Puff/Styles/McKoy Mondo/Washington/McKoy/Shaver If Caleb surprises and declares I'm assuming we'll see Shannon come in Puff needs to hit the weight room (though he gives the impression that he's wiry strong right now at least), and he won't match Brady's scoring output, but his overall skillset is a better fit for what Hubert wants there and he'll be able to contribute in more ways than Brady could Anxious to see what another summer of working on the catch and shoot does for Leaky as he finally started making progress there Outside of the obvious question marks behind Bacot this has the make up of the kind of team Roy won his nattys with
and two months ago we were praying that '23 simply wouldn't be a painful transition to hopefully the GG/Wilcher class
geez, Tomari's ineligible for the '22 season due to taking a non approved pre-workout supplement, staying with the team and can participate in practice
hard to believe we'd all be hoping for this just 2 months ago. His ceiling is really high, if he can just lift his floor to where bad Caleb doesn't sabotage the entire offense we can all benefit from another year.
i think us hating him and comparing him to ld2 was the motivation he needed to get better. if anything, a lot of his improvement can be credited to us
god remember in january when we thought we had to get gg to save the future and now he isn’t committed (yet) and we’re the preseason #1
