Uber is definitely the way to go on Camelback. There are two trails but one has been under construction for 2 years now. Echo Canyon is the only side open currently, so the parking lot gets packed very easily As mentioned, if they are hassling you at the parking lot, just walk down the street from the parking lot and get picked up there
Jerome is awesome, the kaleidoscope store there is fucking awesome. They’ve got some really neat stuff. Mingus has some nice camping, both natty forest developed and dispersed. I used to go up there all the time with the dog, good elevation for the summer and usually pretty quiet on the disperses side. South side of the pass has a launch for hang gliders, pretty neat to check out, especially if people are flying that day. Have a look over the edge and get an idea of what their takeoff must feel like. It’ll pucker dat ass.
Looks like Grow Sciences vape carts are made in Phoenix Their live hash rosin carts are amazing. And their customer service is incredible too, had a cart that was leaking due to the change in altitude and they replaced it no questions asked
I’m looking for a nice resort with a spa/pool and nice views to get away for a long weekend. Location isn’t even picky, anywhere in Arizona really but figured this thread was the place to ask. I stayed at golden canyon and loved it, maybe something along those lines. Anyone have any recs?
I’m a bit partial, my Dad worked for the Gila River reservation for about 30 years so I spent a ton of time out here, but the Sheraton at Wild Horse Pass is fantastic for the type of long weekend. It’s a bit pricey so not sure what you are looking for there but it’s just south of town, access to great shopping/golf, all the real resort amenities.
I knew this sounded familiar. Wife and I always wanted to go to Kai but never made it Arizona’s only AAA Five Diamond Award and Forbes Five-Star Award-Winning restaurant and bar, Kai, meaning ‘seed’ in the Pima language, features a menu rich in creativity, history and Native American culture for both locals and travelers in Phoenix. I stayed at The Princess in Scottsdale when my company was trying to convince me to move to Phoenix. My wife and I got there around 9 pm in sweats with our Chikfila dinner. Front Desk: Ahh yes Mr Bowen we have upgraded you to the presidential suite Bowen: Hahaha OKAY sure guy. Front Desk: No we really did, it's very nice accommodations I think you will enjoy it. Still didn't believe him. It was unbelievable. Huge, insanely nice. Think there were two catering rooms in it. I already knew I was going to move so just kicked it at the hotel all weekend getting hammered and eating good on the company.

If you have any questions I can ask my wife. She worked at a bunch of properties around the valley for years and is familiar with a lot of them.
Come visit me in Tucson. I’d recommend the Westin La Paloma and Loews Ventana Canyon. The Ritz Carlton in Marana is really nice, too.
last time I came down here I got lucky with traffic. Just got to Papago GC and had damn near bumper to bumper traffic on I-17. At 5:30 AM. Wtf
I didn’t realize allergies could be this bad in the desert, I think the palo verde’s are talking to each other and actively trying to kill me.
When I was in town a couple weeks ago I went to Maria's Frybread and Mexican Food for dinner because it had good reviews and was close to the golf course. Man I'd like that about now. Too high to drive to the good Mexican places near me and not a fan of SomeBurros Everest rosin carts
It’s absolutely brutal this year and wonder if last year’s monsoon helped them go insane. I played golf at Arizona National yesterday and I couldn’t see some of the flags because they blended in with palo Verde blooms.
I know an allergist will probably require a referral, so I legitimately may need to go to urgent care tomorrow. OTC stuff is not cutting it. I’ve only been in southern AZ 3 years but it’s never been a problem. This is normally my absolute favorite time of year here. Thread relevant - I’m taking my son up to PHX June 1 to see Braves/Dbacks. I’m stoked, never been to chase.
been here 13 years now and I’ve slowly developed allergies. Coming from GA the pollen never bothered me. Every other year or so I have a couple of days that kinda bothers me. This week has been brutal. The allergy shot has helped and Costco sells a Claritin knock off that works well. I think it’s the mesquite blooming for me at least.
Nearly 141K students are registered for classes through ASU as of today, with 1 in 3 being first-generation students. AZ state schools seem to be some of the best in this regard. Awesome to see so many Hispanic and Native American students get opportunities at higher ed AZ monsoon season >>>> btw
Haven’t been to Phoenix since probably 2016. Any recommendations on non-resort hotels? Planning on maybe hitting a hike and one day of just some general sight seeing. No plans for that yet. Concert at the cardinals stadium, but it appears there’s not anything better than meh within walking distance.
Are you looking to be around stuff (bars, restaurants, etc.)? Glendale sucks. Don't stay there. I wouldn't spend any more time there than the concert and maybe a drink before and/or after. It's pretty easy to get Uber/Lyft to and from there if you aren't going to drive.
I’d prioritize more daytime stuff to do/see than bars and restaurants. Just the wife and I. Might try and see Talesin. We will likely get a car. Looking in that 4.5-5* city hotel/not a full blown resort getaway sort of category.
The Westin Downtown Phoenix is nice. Hotel Palomar and the Renaissance might be worth a look. Not a ton of super nice hotels downtown.
The museum of musical instruments in Scottsdale is cool. So is breakfast / brunch at Hash Kitchen - they have a band and a Bloody Mary bar ...
To me it's a novelty place - it's fun, unique and the food is good. We went when family visited from out of town. Everyone enjoyed it, especially my 86 yr. old mother, but I'm not going back every week ...
Hey I would appreciate any input. My Dad and I are headed to Scottsdale late January for a work thing. Any recommendations on dinner spots? Thanks for the help.
