Was sitting here blasting I Stare at Floors by Protomartyr and in the first 20 seconds the delivery reminded me of I Think You Should Leave when dude was singing about bones being their money in the recording studio. Wonder if Tim Robinson is a fan since he's from Detroit or perhaps he just likes awesome bands like us
One listen for the Arcade Fire. The I part of the album was sad and Nigel didn’t get a lot of passion out of the delivery of what could be some excellently poignant first half songs, especially Rabbit Hole. End of the Empire was maybe too Bowie? The exuberance of the WE side I’m very into. Race and Religion with Peter Gabriel was great, although I wish it could take it one level higher. It was like an 8 on the intensity through the whole song. Will be spinning it more tomorrow.
Not a follower of this thread and I should be, but Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, Maggie Rogers are all awesome. Who are some of your other more recent female singers you guys like? I’ve heard Soccer Mommy, Mitski and St Vincent on SiriusXM recently.
Samia Snail Mail Julien Baker boygenius(Phoebe, Lucy, Julien supergroup) Big Thief Japanese Breakfast Clairo Magdalena Bay There are way more, but it's early, and that's all my brain can currently come up with.
Got tickets for this in the fall. Our Mitski show in DC got moved due to COVID so we missed it. Promised my daughter I'd make it up to her. Admittedly I don't know a bunch of these names.

Album's been out all of 9 hours, but may have to add Sadurn to the above list. Record is so fucking good.
listened to new arcade fire a couple of times and its good/ok. definitely not as great as their early ones but still better than the last one. do like this one a bit that came out today need to check out warpaint and !!! albums still
it’s my least favorite rolling blackouts record but I think I still like it more than this arcade fire joint but plan on listening to AF again today to give my final expert opinion
Arcade Fire album is bad Warpaint is alright Hater is p good so far haven’t gotten to any other releases from today
But really, I am happy we all have our tastes and can respect differences. I do think it’s pretentious that they have this split album concept that no one would understand just by pressing play.
Used to really like Arcade Fire. Not remotely a fan of anything post Reflekfor. Saw them in Montreal back then. Was a great show.
Their tour this fall is all arena, which they have done for the last two or three. They pack them out but I bet it’s so different from the old days in Montreal, or the intimacy of these small secret shows they did in advance of release. They still put on a great performance with more passion, comparing to the album version. Rabbit Hole especially. Creature Comforts from last album.
