Best case is that Dante is trying to get ND to bump up the offer. He's literally checking off the boxes of the schools with the largest known NIL collectives. But don't read the tea leaves because D3 might get his feelings hurt.
Late March - Dante tells ND on an unofficial he will commit to ND if they give him a market clearing NIL offer April / May - Dante collects the biggest bags from the usual suspects (Oregon, A&M, Miami, LSU) Mid-June - Dante OVs to ND and gives them the offer to match or not and commits shortly thereafter That about right?
Or the extent that he is shopping himself out is overstated and this is all for his dad to travel around for a couple of months the have his ass kissed
He and his parents are idiots if they aren’t shopping around. Nico is getting paid the equivalent of working 40 years at a $200k annual salary. The system is broken right now and they should all be trying to cash in before it self-corrects or gets fixed.
Yes, he's just coincidentally travelling to the team loaded with Nike money, the school that bought Michigan's OC and looks desperate to sign a massive QB, and now booking a trip to the school who bought a #1 recruiting class last year. As Voodoo points out, it makes a lot of sense to shop around, but he's definitely shopping around. The good news is it seems like he's going to give ND a chance to match which will go a long way to seeing how competitive ND wants to be the next few years until this corrects.
so im wondering one thing here, isnt it the head coach salaries that are the true outliers if you think open market. Even the Pats have a bunch of players earning more than BB and whilst i would argue that college coaches are a bigger influence on team success relatively i dont think a 5 star qb in an open marketplace would earn that much less than a coach
Even Driskell intimated the dad is shopping around. He just can’t understand why anyone could even fathom the idea of doing so.
Two big factors - finite life and bust potential. College players are one year rentals vs. a franchise QB essentially having a career-long deals. Nico might be an All American or he may never start a game. What will be fascinating is if/when you see a Nico who got $2m a year from Tennessee prove himself as a stud, then look for $4-5m offers his junior year, etc. It hasn't scratched the surface of how nuts this will get.
I do wonder how strict these guaranteed contracts will be in terms of keeping kids at the schools they sign the deals with. If I had to guess, the 7 figure deals probably come with major penalties (perhaps even paying everything back) to ensure kids don’t hit the Portal.
im pretty sure those biggest deals also include basically signing away your NIL rights, something that FU ND doesnt do, so you can earn more money but youre not the one getting the money
I think this is how will it shift in the short term. Why spend $8mm on a high schooler who may be a bust when you can spend $8mm on a kid who is already performing at a high level at a different school? They’re going to have to start renegotiating these deals every year.
Hayes Fawcett said he’s putting up a Dante post in two hours. Probably a final 4-5, but maybe this is a final 2
Out of curiosity I went and checked out his instagram. Other than a state champs and army all American post, the only posts now are from his ND and LSU visits
I've been in a conspiratorial mood today, shit against the wall. Freeman has put Dante up to most of this with the planned conclusion of an ND/LSU final two and a commitment to ND on his OV. All just to fuck with Kelly.
Appears the fawcett guy made it and posted it on Dante's IG for him. It's a picture of him and the logo of every school that has offered lol. in the text is a plea for fanbases to show love...
Occasionally, I miss the days when all we heard was shaky third hand information how a certain recruit was seen shivering at a November game in the snow. Everyone would freak out and assume he was going somewhere else. Then we’d forget about him until we’d tune in to a terribly produced commitment announcement in a musty high school gym. A hat would be picked. A cheer would go up. A poorly written screed in all caps would announce BOBBY IS IRISH!..!?!. And that would be that. This perpetual love/hate cycle, interspersed with spates of unhealthy adoration, is just exhausting.
I feel like we're in a win-win position now though. Either he commits to us, or we can complain about how he was so "look at me" and only in it for the NIL money and will transfer next year to the high bidder either way.
I think I’ve said this before, but watching the 4HL stage a mutiny against Tom Loy when we lose Moore is something I’m legitimately looking forward to.
Greathouse is a stud. Like CJ Williams he plays at an elite HS and is coached very well. He will be physically and mentally as prepared as any player coming into college
Would much rather he reclassify than James. He could play right away with how physically advanced he is.
I saw where Singer was calling out subscribers over Dante Moore and subsequently locked the thread. Awesome.
Singer is a sensitive little guy. Ive said it before but he blocked me on twitter then went to the blue and gold twitter and blocked me on there too. It wasn't even anything that deserved that type of reaction, something about the on3 rankings but he was mad over it.
By the way this is Singers reply to someone on the message board That's hysterical. Tom and I did that interview with Dante together at an event in Atlanta. It is the coaches job to recruit. He also gave a quote about how important it is to a recruit as a quarterback. I've seen a lot of stupid sht but your argument here takes the cake.
you missed our savior starting a thread saying he was done with Dante’s recruitment after the stunt tonight and then locked when he came to his senses.
Holy hell I just seen that. hahaha my lord that's the content I'm here for. Thank you Dante, do it again please.
Wait, people can "thank the author" for posts? That is objectively hilarious A grown man posts some drivel being pissed at a 16 year old for enjoying his recruitment - "thank you sir, this is much appreciated content, we agree"
Singer needs to be careful. This is grounds for execution now that edge lord and savior Elon Musk has taken over.
here's the article, but i'm confused as to why people keep saying he hasn't visited (not just you Beed but i've seen it said multiple times on other boards as well). He was at a game last fall (Cincy I think) so he's definitely been to ND before and that's when ND took the lead in his recruitment and it's been rumored to have stayed that way ever since. He's coming back for an OV in June with the big group Spoiler The 247Sports Crystal Ball is a tool recruiting analysts use to show the pulse of a recruitment. What school is the team to beat right now? Where is a prospect going to eventually land? The Crystal Ball is a good tool to use to keep an eye on where things are headed for a particular talent. Here’s the newest pick in favor of the Fighting Irish. I have been contemplating this prediction for a very long time, but finally believe at this very moment that Notre Dame is on top and I feel good about them getting this one done following the next official visit. I am picking Notre Dame to land Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic four-star defensive lineman Jason Moore. I first reported on Tuesday that Notre Dame will host the 6-6, 255-pounder from the class of 2023 for an official visit over the weekend of June 10-12. This is a massive weekend for Fighting Irish recruiting and Moore will be among the biggest targets on campus. The staff will look to close the deal that weekend and make a great impression on Moore and his family. I expect them to do a great job, as they typically do on these types of visits, and move the needle toward a commitment from the No. 50 overall player in America. I really like the way Notre Dame is handling this recruitment. They aren’t being over the top or pushy in terms of a commitment, but still making it clear that they are there, solely focused on him and ready to take his commitment whenever he feels like the time is right. To be completely honest, the way defensive line coach Al Washington is going about this recruitment seems to be perfect at this time. Obviously, that will eventually be determined by the results and actually landing his commitment. But he's tough to top right now. He just landed a commitment from four-star defensive end Boubacar Traore and has the Irish in a great spot for four-star defensive lineman Devan Houstan, who is expected to announce a commitment in the very near future. It's hard to bet against him right now. Sources have indicated to Irish Illustrated and 247Sports that Moore is leaning toward Notre Dame, but that’s not something he has said publicly at any point. We'll take that with a grain of salt, but I do trust my sources on this one. This visit will be key for the parents. His mother, to my knowledge, has already been to campus. However, I do not believe his father has at this point. So, it’ll be key getting all three of them on campus together and going from there. If things play out as I expect, I believe Washington, defensive coordinator Al Golden, director of recruiting Chad Bowden and head coach Marcus Freeman get this one done over the summer following a few official visits.
and this intel matches up with Singer (already put in a FC pick for Jason Moore to end up at ND) and what D3 is saying Even the Penn St mods believe ND leads here and Penn St is supposed to be second in this recruitment
