My take on chiropractic care: I’ve gotten a few adjustments in my day, and the stretching/cracking does feel good. Unfortunately there are a ton of bad chiros out there that really damage the reputation and perception of the industry. Proof of both of my points can be found in the fact that there’s a TikTok account exclusively for a chiro whose adjustments make people fart.
chiropractors are great for short term relief of stiff joints, mostly in the spine, and the good ones explain to the patients how to mobilize those joints themselves. they aren't "adjusting" anything, they're just causing a cavitation of a joint that hasn't moved in a while. unfortunately a vast majority of them seem hellbent on the stupid sublaxation model that they can cure random shit by "realigning the spine"
I have a colleague whose wife goes to the chiropractor religiously and takes their 11 month old there on a bi weekly basis. I find that to be insane. He, of course, informed me of this after I go on a ten minute rant about how how big of scam artists they are.
Chiropractors operate outside an appropriate scope of practice. Most are predatory scum who believe they're better than PT and PCPs for treating chronic injuries and illnesses. They're quacks and charlatans. Studies published by the like (naturapoathy etc) are methodically bad. Nothing like a vertebral artery dissection, stroke or nerve injuries to help one's pain. A chiropractor is not a medical professional. A physical therapist is. Edit: Apologies to anyone I offend.
Sorry to hear that. Very well could be true. VAD can be caused by very mild/minor neck trauma i.e. whiplash, by car accidents, and by physical manipulation. It can present itself immediately after manipulation to hours and days by posterior circulation stroke. Symptoms can manifest in something as innocent as a headache. I'd bet most seasoned neurologist have seen their share of VADs caused by neck and spine manipulation. The neck and heart circulation are features that were never fixed when humans were released.
Our first child sucked at breast feeding, and “lactation consultants” referred us to a dentist who did tongue tie procedures. Got that done and he recommended chiropractor procedures 3 days a week. Found out later they were all in a network together and it was definitely not a scam. I went to one of the “chiropractic” appointments a few weeks in and immediately put an end to that. They literally just rotated my infants head a few times and there were dozens of infant parents waiting in there. Scummy fucking practice man knowing that mothers are just trying to make breast feeding work.
going through this shit now. They like poke the baby a few times and rotate their finger around and say that’ll be $100. Even worse the guy wouldn’t tell us how much it would cost until he evaluated the baby, and asked me what I did for a living casually just before giving us the price. The bad ones are just like John Edwards. They’re like oh, does her head turn to one side a little more than the other? Oh yeah she’s a little tight here. Does she have trouble sleeping on a schedule (she’s a fucking newborn)- oh yeah this can lead to issues down the road. Can’t tell you how many visits it’ll take to fix just keep coming

And you have to support your wife who is getting pressured to breast feed. Sucks. If it makes you feel any better we tried our best, eventually switched to pump and bottles, then formula. Kid turned out fine. Formula is fine, fuck the stigmas.
Same thing, wife stopped trying to breast feed 100% of the time and mostly did pumping which we mixed in with formula.
Yeah no doubt. My wife had mastitis 3 times w my first born, one so bad it put her in the hosptial for 2 nights. This one’s breast feeding fine we did it more preemptively because we didn’t cut our sons ties and every kid in the family on her and my side has ties… the chiropractic shit drives me crazy tho
