I’ll def watch, especially if D’Onofrio comes back.

But I wish they’d start building toward something now. We’re like 5 shows and 6 movies in and other than a brief Kang cameo everything seems super far off and disconnected.

Shit there still hasn’t been any payoff from the Far From Home stinger with Fury being in space, and that was Phase 3.

They have a lot of new people to build back stories on - probably a larger team than even the last major plot line - including maintaining stories for existing ones.

I'd bet we won't see much from the Fury scene until our next Captain Marvel.

Think of Phase Four like a super-sized (due to so many more movies and shows) Phase One.

Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor - four stories, largely independent of one another, but all building toward a single team-up. Thing is, it wasn't clear who the Avengers would fight in their first team-up movie until Thor and Cap came out in 2011. Throughout Iron Man, Hulk, and Iron Man 2 (and even Thor), there was little to nothing pointing to Loki as the first big threat to take down.

Phase Two led to a big fight vs Ultron but he wasn't set up AT ALL until the Avengers movie he starred in.

The idea (not saying you're the one saying this, but it's out there) that there should already be a hundred connective seams between the various Phase Four properties is coming from the idea that Thanos was slowly built up from the beginning. He really wasn't. He was tossed out as a gag at the end of Avengers 1, then they decided to start building up the Infinity Stones throughout phase two. They introduced Thanos properly in GOTG Vol 1, but if you didn't know the comics you wouldn't know he was on a mission to collect the stones. By that point you wouldn't know what the ultimate endgame (no pun intended) was.

Compare that to Phase Four. You have a bunch of properties that seemingly are disconnected, but there are commonalities to be found here and there, namely in the idea of screwing around with reality/the multiverse. Kang has already been introduced to us (in a form), and even if you don't know the comics you can still get an idea from the Loki finale that he's someone who either will be the big bad or will be "a" big bad to be dealt with.

Right now you've got street level heroes like Falcon and Spider-Man, magic/craft users like Strange and Wanda, science users like GOTG and Thor. There doesn't SEEM to be one link to all of them, but the multiverse will be the key that unites them, just as Thanos' quest for the stones united everyone in those movies. Thing is, Thanos' big fight was the third and fourth Avengers movie, so I don't expect the final showdown vs Kang to be the next Avengers film. I think that will be Secret Wars. We might fight a version of Kang there, but he won't be "defeated" until years later, maybe even close to a decade from now.

Endgame ended Fiege's first "run" with the Avengers. Now we're in the beginning of his second run. He's still planting seeds and hasn't even begun to water them all.

I predict we get Secret Wars as the next Avengers movie (2026), then maybe Young Avengers (2029) as the one after that, then finally some version of Avengers Forever (2032) to see the end of Kang.

After that, I predict young Franklin Richards will push a button and blow up the whole universe and we'll reset with a new Cap, Iron Man, X-Men, F4, you name it, starting over with all of the Marvel characters ready to be played with from day one.

Imagine if the first MCU movie from the new universe occurs in 2033, 25 years after Iron Man 1. If you don't believe Kevin Fiege is at least brainstorming that far ahead, you haven't read his interviews.

In pro sports terms, the MCU was a dynasty that ended with End Game and now it's trying to rebuild on the fly. And it's understandable why they have to do that now. But rebuilding on the fly is really hard, even if you have the same people as owner, GM, scouts, head coach, etc. It's really hard to recreate that magic, and when your audience knows what a dynasty looks like, it's hard to come down from that to see the new thing for what it is instead of what it isn't.

It also doesn't matter what it looked like in the beginning. The whole "they didn't know what they were building to" and "go back to phase 1 and they weren't connected stuff" is irrelevant because we know how it played out. It's like "no one thought Tom Brady would become this as a 6th round pick." No, we didn't, but that doesn't mean the same org is going to find the next Tom Brady just because they found the first one.

Sure, I trust Feige and everyone. And I generally like the movies and shows we've seen since End Game. I loved some of them. But it doesn't feel the same as it did in phase 3 to me when I see these movies or shows. I watched the dynasty when it happened, and my excitement coming out of a theater just isn't the same as it was in phase 3 wondering what was going to happen next. Maybe they can get there. I hope they do. But I don't think it's unreasonable to acknowledge that it's different now, and that getting that feeling back with a new roster is far from a guarantee.

I don't think it's unreasonable at all, especially since you're just being honest. Endgame was the culmination of ten years of movies, nearly every single one of which was a homerun film. It is incredibly rare even for a TRILOGY to stick the landing with the finale (Back to the Future, Matrix, Raimi's Spider-Man, X-Men, Nolan's Dark Knight movies; they all struggled with the third [sometimes second AND third] movies). The MCU pulled off what could have been the greatest finale ever with Endgame. They had more hype, more expectations, more anticipation than any movie in history behind it...and they nailed it.

There was no way the movie that followed was going to reach that level of satisfaction. The human body doesn't work like that, lol.

Like it or not, there was always going to be a come down/reset and a slow build to the next one. You're not supposed to feel the same now as you did in phase three. You didn't feel the same in phase one as you did in phase three either. It's simply impossible to follow up how Endgame made you feel with "the next MCU movie" and have it feel the same way. Feeling let down isn't unreasonable. Criticizing them for it kind of is, though.

She Hulk special effects are...okay, let's be honest. The textures are fine, but there's a definite uncanny valley effect going on, to a much bigger degree than Hulk had in, say, Ragnarok or Endgame (where he was on screen and talking a bunch). Those movies had much bigger budgets, I know, but still it isn't great.

honestly I dont think the CG looks that bad, there were just a few shots that looked a little off to me. I may be because of an uncanny valley or the fact that her skin is so smooth. Regardless as long as the show is good I dont think it will matter much.
