New comedy that just premiered on HBO. The always wonderful Jean Smart stars as a comedienne with a Las Vegas residency whose agent convinced her to bring in a young writer to punch up her stale act. It’s written and directed by the team behind Broad City, including Trey who also plays the agent. Pretty good so far.
There’s a largely forgettable movie called Rough Night written and directed by the same husband and wife team. The only memorable stuff is the corresponding bachelor party
Very strong season and I’m glad there’s a second. Jean Smart is obviously wonderful in everything but the supporting cast is so good. Having Christopher McDonald and Kaitlin Olson as recurring guest stars were big gets and I hope we see more of the Brits next year.
Really enjoyed season 1 and love the premise of season 2. I hope they resolve the whole Ava saying mean things about her to the Brits storyline quickly; I'm just not interested in it at all
I do like that it potentially gives us more Chris Geere but hopefully they find another way to bring him in
I thought Ava was outstanding. From what I know TV writers are insufferable, and she fit the bill! The daggum one-night-stand storyline was awesome. The secretary gal saying "Bitch, you got this bitch. I believe in you, girl" was soooooo funny. I'm not a fan of Vegas, but I always enjoy seeing things set there for some reason. Anyway, it was a great damn season and I'm looking forward to seeing the next one.
I started this last night and almost done with S1 already. Such a good show. I love Jean Smart so much.
All the shit between Jimmy and Kayla with HR was amazing. It’s a 52 week anger management course. So, a year?! Well, actually over a year. They take weeks off for Christmas and Hanukah and Halloween. They take a week off for Halloween? Yeah, the teacher is really into Halloween. And don’t forget to wear a costume because she’ll get really mad. The anger management teacher?? Yeah, you know how they say those who can’t do teach? What?!!
apparently the younger 40-ish year old guy that slept with Jean Smart's character in the girl's night episode was Devon Sawa
