The fact that BCS deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as BB is quite an achievement. I hope Gilligan steps outside this universe and delivers something else incredible next.
I wonder if one were to try to tell the whole BCS/BB/EC story line, not necessarily in chronological order, but in the best way to capture the whole story by arranging episodes from both series and the movie, what would that arrangement be? You obviously wouldn’t go episode for episode switching most of the time, but I’m also not sure you would have it be full seasons before getting back to other the show all that often either. It won’t be me, but I know someone will do something like this at some point.
I thought they had said that. I was slightly confused as to why he didn't know him when he saw the pic before the meeting but probably just a case of it being tough to tell from the black and white photo.
Yea, I was confused by that too All I could figure was he just knew of the guy but didn't actually know him
No. And I love this show, and people can like one show better than the other. I prefer breaking bad between the two personally but wouldn’t “rank” one over the other definitively. I’ll add that the thing holding this show back has a lot to do with the prequel nature, and that’s not necessarily this shows fault. But we know so much about nearly every character, that’s there’s not much at stake in this final season, compared to the immense stakes of breaking bad
I love this show but let’s not act like the first season didn’t start slow. Episode 1 ends with us seeing Tuco but after that situation resolves the story kind of drags until we get to episode 6 and get mikes back story. From there they hit another gear and the show just gets better as it goes on.
I think thats part of what makes it so great BCS has that going against it by default and they have made it a non issue with people like Kim, Chuck, Lalo, Nacho and Howard.
same. but it was slow, it was just a very good slow imo. I have a friend who loves the show but is like “there was too many Jimmy cons in the first few seasons” and i dont get that line of thinking what so ever.
That's what I thought as well. Figure the "you" referred to Cliff or D&M No way Howard is caught as off guard as he was if he knew the guy already
It was. It was clearly stated during the mediation that Cliff was the one who reccomened the judge as the mediator.
Howard is talking and then Schweikart jumps in and says “you recommended this judge as a mediator and we agreed….” and then Howard replies to him. It’s not that important. I was just curious and yeah it makes more sense that Cliff picked him but I couldn’t remember what that process was like.
Any lawyer types want to opine on the idea that Howard's "antics" significantly hurt the plaintiff's leverage? I thought it was oversold to wrap the hamscam up, but I don't know how the give and take of the mediation process would have played out.
Cliff mentioned in the pre meeting with the old lady that the mediator is someone he has known “for many years”, so I assumed he was cliff’s suggestion.
it was oversold but that would still have an effect on the outcome. The lead attorney going on an apparently coked-out rant and hurling accusations of bribery against the mediator would probably kill any chances of mediation moving forward, and Howard’s condition would make S&C think they have a better shot at trial bc he doesn’t seem like he can effectively litigate the case. It would also kill any confidence Cliff had in Howard and make him much more inclined to settle quickly. I think the biggest blow would be Cliff maintaining that if Howard would not agree to settle, then Cliff would have to disclose all the sketchy shit he had seen to the partners (presumably of both firms) which would make everyone want to settle in a hurry. just my I’m a criminal attorney, I don’t deal with huge civil litigation like that so take it for what it’s worth.
Just watched the last episode. Holy shit. Legit stood up in my living room. This show is so good about leaving bread crumbs and then tying together disparate threads in a way that feels so obvious in hindsight but is totally unexpected.
Did anyone get a hint as to how Lalo figured out Gus had the Casa Tranquila phones bugged? Or did he already suspect that when he made the first call? That was the one piece that confused me.
I think the last episode of tv that gave me anxiety like that episode was the trap house episode from the first season of true detective.
Bold prediction- Ernie went to UAS Law and has become an attorney. That’s the card Saul gives Francesca when they’re going on the run in the BB timeline in BCS S4.
Rewatched tonight, as insane as the first time I kinda feel worse about Howard’s death than Mike’s. Maybe, this show does mess with you
Probably because Howard was far more innocent than Mike. But seeing Mike’s relationship with his granddaughter and the shit with his son from BCS makes his BB death even tougher.
That “I broke my boy” delivery gets me every time I see it. Just watched it again and damn I lost it.
Howard fell and hit his head in a similar way that Chuck did when he had his meltdown at the photocopy place. Nice touch
Plan and Execution currently ranks as the 17th all-time highest rated episode on IMDB and 8th for live-action, non-competition series episodes (1,000 vote minimum). https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?num_votes=1000,&sort=user_rating,desc&title_type=tv_episode
Never heard of Attack on Titan, but all the episodes that I've seen that are high on that list seem to be properly ranked. Did not realize Ozymandias maintained a 10 after all of these years.
Update on the lab equipment access - they had a big service elevator that is shown in BB 2-3 times. I’ll just assume that is sufficient.
Have avoided the thread because I’ve been watching on about a week’s delay for every episode. That last fifteen minutes was a feeling I don’t know if I’ve experienced with television before.
was behind and just watched the mid season finale last night man that look of fear in Howard’s eyes before getting shot was tough. never cared much for him in the previous seasons but in this one he was actually likable and rootable bc it felt over the top what Jimmy & Kim were doing . Kim is the opposite, just like Howard pretty much said ..she used to have more of a moral compass where you could see her feel some guilt . that balance is gone this season. we’ll see if Howard’s death changes that at all
The latest insider podcast with Mark Margolis is pretty good. He was in a 70’s porno called the opening of misty beethoven.
