So the system they're talking about in the article makes sense to sell; Grey Eagle is about the same size as a Reaper but doesn't include the more sensitive Intel equipment (so if/when they crash/get shot down, no biggie) and they're flown by line-of-sight control so Ukraine wouldn't need to use our satellite infrastructure to fly them. It does make the pilots an easier target though since you know they're within 100 or so miles of the aircraft
so basically a slightly larger more capable tb-2? Would I be correct in thinking the life expectancy of a larger drone like that in such an AA saturated space is very short?
Significantly larger and more capable; the Grey Eagle is about 2/3 the size of a Reaper, which is roughly the same size of an A10, so it’s not a small aircraft. TB-2s are a medium sized drone with four munitions hard points; Grey Eagle has eight. I woulda thought they’d have a short life span given the SAM threat but I would have thought that about the TB2 as well.
Reminds me of the “Barry” episode where he calls the customer service for the bomb app and they walk him thru to a successful detonation lol
Keep hearing this new equipment will help turn the tide and push the Russians back. Will these lead to Ukraine regaining lost territory?
As this is the de facto Military thread at the moment; I figured this would be a good place to post this. Yes it’s totally unrelated to the Ukrainian war. Apparently people really like to win internet arguments to the point of leaking classified information. The top comment:
Goes back to the great internet proverb: if you want the right answer, ask the question, and then post a clearly wrong answer and wait. Nobody wants to help you answer the question, but the line will be out the door to tell you your answer is wrong and give you the right answer.
Don't worry, as long as there is 1 Ukrainian still standing for the West to sell weapons too, the war will continue.
So would it be absolutely out of the question for japan to join nato? What about Australia? Have to think that changes chinas calculus.
Secondly, has it been so long that USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia wouldn't just rally to Britain irregardless of the situation?
Yeah cuz it’s Five Anglo Spider-Man in a circle, I’m not a monarchists or someone that supports the crown by any means, but I’d rather rejoin the empire than let Donald Trump subvert the government
so youre saying youd rather be governed by a right wing idiot with obesity who is a blowhard who'd rather rile up crowds with hair that looks like some hay died on top of his head than a right wing idiot with obesity who is a blowhard who'd rather rile up crowds with hair that looks like some hay died on top of his head
Fuck humiliating Russia. I want the Russian Federation to break apart. We never should have given France it’s seat back at the adults’ table at the end of WWII.
Easy comments to make for people who won’t get shelled by a Russian, get their town obliterated, or die of famine
Are you talking about everyone itt? Lots of military tough guys in here that never served, never did anything but are talking a lot of shit.
to the two posters immediately above the quoted post who have no apparent concept of the real direct and indirect costs of this war. I wouldn’t go as far as your post last night, but the sooner this ends in a negotiated settlement that the Ukrainians can support, the better. Humiliating Russia and attempting to dismantle Russia would result in a disastrous human cost.
