Woof, terrible round today. My irons just went to shit at about hole 13. Felt the club face turn in my hands nearly every shot. Drove it pretty well, so that’s nice. Short game needs a ton of work. I can’t hit < 50 yards for shit. Need to spend a day at the driving range at their chipping green.
The Denny McCarthey anthropology/archeology mixup in the broadcast a little bit ago was fucking embarrassing as hell
Played the New Course yesterday at Grand Cypress. What a gem. Hit 13/14 fairways. Top 10 driving round for me no doubt. Shot 84. Fucking putter.
My favorite public course in the metro when they have it in good shape. Will be interesting to see what they do. Wish the course was a little closer.
Sounds like my round today at Pursell Farms, hit every fairway couldn’t make a putt. Shot a personal best 85, just gotta figure out the putting now
Kind of yes kind of no. When I went into my fitting I told them about what I was swilling to spend and ended up going with no up charge KBS shafts. Later when I got fit for wedges we went with an upcharged shaft because they matched my iron shafts.
Ty Webb Ok so my father talked with his brother and told him I expected him to play golf with me on the Saturday I’m there. Which sucks because he’s a bit of a dick and now makes it much harder to play fossiltrace or get on as a solo somewhere private like broadmoar or the Air Force academy. So here is my plan. I play one course between the springs and lone tree where my uncle lives. (Kings deer/the ridge/plum creek/ lone tree hotel). Then I come back end of September for my birthday. I play fossil trace and another course maybe common grounds if it’s comparable?
Any Southerners every played Capitol Hill in Prattville AL? we are heading down there in a few weeks. 4 rounds in two days. staying at an Airbnb on the course. Yearly golf trip has become a major highlight of the year.
Not a southerner but played it 3 years ago. Specifically played The Judge course. Very unique holes and course which is immediately evident from the first tee.
Yea I really liked it. I love the whole rtj trail honestly. Anyone that lives close enough should buy a trail card and play the shit out of it.
Growing up in AL i have played most of them. Some of them are better than others. I really don't like Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham but Ross Bridge is nice. The best are the ones down at the Grand in Fairhope.
I will say I liked the course and vibe at the Capitol Hill location more than Grand National in/near Auburn. Although both were great in the grand scheme of things.
Got my trail card over the holiday weekend. First time playing silver lakes in a year or two and the elevated greens kicked my ass once again but still a fun course.
Capitol Hill is more of a destination to me. Go play some cool core. Grand National is solid but pretty standard golf imo. Plan on going back to Birmingham this year and playing more of those courses. The elevation in Birmingham blew me away.
I guess I should have said that it is my favorite. Though I have had a lot of good experiences at the grand in general, not just the golf. I really just think it's better than the Birmingham tracks. Grand National was good too but didn't blow me away. I grew up in North Alabama but always just played my home courses and never strayed to the RTJ ones up there. I've heard the one in Florence is awesome.
I mean, the chatter is only consuming the sport because this is the only drama outside of the actual tournaments.
The one in Greenville of all places is pretty damn good I’ll say this about the grand. If you go down there and spend three nights your wallet is gonna take a beating
I haven’t read anything concrete so forgive my ignorance. If these guys go LIV, what majors (if any) are they still allowed to play?
I mean, what is high 9-figures? $700mil? Why not just make it a cool bill if we’re throwing around funny money.
Sounds like a winner. The Ridge is great. Fossil a blast. Arrowhead is another really popular touristy course. I haven’t played Common Ground. Incredible price for a Doak course though and I think they have a caddie training program there so you can get one for a really reasonable price. It’s on my list for the next Denver golf trip.
Makes sense. I’d imagine they were asking for a guaranteed number of events, which doesn’t make sense for him to adhere to. Id also guess he won’t be playing many tour events going forward anyway, regardless of which tour.
