GM's can't control everything, shit, probably a lot of things. That being said, how shitty has Avila really been? I can't think of one good or even halfway decent move that he's made that's worked out. You'd think he'd hit on something, a trade, a free agent acquisition, something. The only thing he hasn't completely wiffed on is drafting, and even that his hit rate is much lower than it should be. What does he have to do to get fired? This is Randy Smith level ineptitude.
rough day for Avila. Rodriguez quits the team. Baez getting booed after every at bat. Chafin gives up like 4 runs.
I've gone completely apathetic with this team. We are in like 2010-2020 Pistons territory. Not even angry because it's such a joke, just don't care right now
Michigan is about to lose its coach to Clemson. Based on how this season has gone I’m going to assume Fetter gets that job.
I've been watching a lot of Tigers games after my kids go to bed this season. My god they're fucking terrible.
Isaac Paredes is hitting .200, but his .751 OPS would be 3rd on the Tigers behind Victor Reyes and Harold Castro.
I’ll pay more attention when Greene gets called up, but it’s not even worth checking box scores right now.
I turned it in, saw the score and my only thought was that it wasn't Skubal or Faedo who got rocked. :(
Per fangraphs, tigers positional players have a total WAR of 1.3. Bobby Witt Jr has a 1.6 WAR, Ha-seong Kim 1.4, Carlos Correa 1.3, JD Martinez 2.2, Corey Seager 1.4, Trevor Story 1.4
5 guys in the starting lineup tonight were batting under .200 tonight. 4 of them with enough plate appearances to qualify, I think.
"It isn’t about Avila’s perceived incompetence at making trades. He can trade as adequately as any GM, and has — when he has had trade chips." "There has been one reality, for sure, big. It wasn’t a GM’s fault that MLB teams beginning in 2017 went into fetal positions, hording their prospects" "Thoughts that Avila or some other GM could have dealt their way into making the Tigers a contender in 2022 are nonsense. It wasn’t going to happen. Nor was some brand of wild and wooly free-agent binge going to work." Lynn Henning today
That’s a bunch of bullshit. Lynn is such a bitch. Still waiting for Cale Iorg to make the majors. and we heard all off-season the rebuild was over, yet we are on pace to lose 95 games this year. Do better Lynn.
To be fair Lynn point to the article was we haven't had enough home grown talent to be competitive (which he isn't wrong about) but still oddly defends Avila throughout most the story, when it's also him whose drafts have led to this problem
