LIV caddies have all travel expenses, accommodations, and food completely paid for. Wonder if any of the top ones try to move if their players stay with the PGA Tour.
I didn't know that about paying the caddies. Those guys are such wads about paying their caddies that is probably all the Saudis needed to offer. Like Kramer taking the deal for the liftetime supply of coffee before they could offer the cash.
Yeah, Mickelson gives a shit about paying caddies. Doesn't he owe Bones over half a million? The headliners of LIV are the worst guys on tour, has beens trying to make their last nut, never beens trying to make their first nut, and Michigan State Spartans. No idea who is leading the tournament, but I'm sure they're awesome.
I do wonder if LIV pays for Louis to fly his sleep number mattress all over or Bryson gets his Bentley SUV shipped
Ok seeing these prices for delicious paella and knowing I just spent like $300 for 10 beers at the PGA championship a few weeks ago I’m starting to lean team LIV
So Charl Schwartzel had made like 700k this year and just got 4.75 mill for 3 days in a shotgun start pro-am.
Minus the am portion, yes. I honestly think “The Match” setups that happened over the past couple years helped facilitate this. Finally the players realized two things… - They can get paid by entities outside the PGA Tour to play golf - Their worth on a per-round basis is WAY higher than what they experienced grinding it out on the PGA Tour
Maybe they should do more The Match kind of things. Pair a pro with a famous person, and play a tournament. Not a pro-am; nobody cares about Joe Pro Shop from Kansas, sorry.
Do enjoy those, but they really need to get good personalities or else it’s relatively boring for the general public.
How long do you think LIV golf lasts with no ROI? You have to think the goal is legitimate sponsors and broadcast partners.
We gonna get JT vs Rory on Sunday the first week of the Liv. PGA tour couldn’t have asked for more really.
I’d imagine their gameplan is to get players over as quickly as possible, destroy all the PGA Tour sponsorship deals in the process (given strength of field contingencies in those contracts), and provide an ad free product until the PGA Tour is pretty much done with. How long are they willing to go to make that happen? Likely depends on their float, which is seemingly massive. But I also don’t think it will take that long for the sponsors to leave the PGA Tour. At that point, they’ll probably begin figuring out their real business model.
Seems like the European/Asian markets may be less hesitant to have the advertiser blowback like there is here in the US?
I can see them continuing to pick off players and hurting the PGA Tour's product. I just have to think the Saudi connections are going to prevent them from getting partners like CBS/NBC and in turn big sponsors.
there will absolutely be hidden strings attached to their lack of ROI and I cant wait to see the elephant walk they make their pledges do lmao at committing to 4 years and more money and thinking life will be best
