All I remember is "lyrtch really hates btc but also bought it"....funny. The cope and jealousy from the tradfi crowd is endlessly amusing. Good luck with your modern portfolio theories, 60/40 equity/bond allocations, financial advisors taking 1-2%, etc. Sincerely, hope that works out. I'll be over here like a moron just saving in btc. The difference is I don't pop into stock threads hoping your random investment thesis goes to zero. Same ain't true on the other side, and if i had to speculate, it's due to jealousy. Ugly trait really.
Are they different than the outgroup signaling? Ponzi, scam, going to zero, no intrinsic value, worthless. Hell we probably hit a bingo on the last 2 pages.
yes because those are largely normative language outputs that are applied to all kinds of things. btc and crypto both create phraseology that is unique to the space and you can see the linguistic drift over time, the uniqueness is further embedded by the adoption of acronyms to continue layering the jargon to let people "in the know" feel special. it's interesting, i'm sure linguists have studied it and what it compares to.
I don't hate btc. I think all the various use cases are nonsense but the theory plays to ancient economic theories that libertarians and conspiracy theorists flock to so there's a huge audience to draw from and why at times I bought in for speculation. I got interested in it during covid so I like to keep up on what's going on, but also your insanity is entertaining to kick around occasionally.
Examples? Because if you’re gonna use stuff like nodes, miners, etc. don’t bother. It’s not odd that a new invention has invention-specific terms. Computer programmers have been trying to invent what became btc for decades. Ancient economic theory? Lol. Remind how long we’ve been on the current path compared to the rest of history. The federal reserve has existed for all of like 100ish years. People in Ukraine literally left the country with their money due to btc. But sure…nonsense use cases.
someone please search the thread for, "hedge against inflation" and all of the other silly posts about money supply TIA
lyrtch accusing user of in group signaling is beyond hilarious no one will understand bc 95% of TMB is lyrtch's in group
Random thought, but the amount of btc that's lost year after year adds up. Looking big picture, not just the next 5-10 years, how much would be left in 100 years even if it did thrive as an asset? If someone unexpectedly dies at 30, their spouse or family can get access to their checking and investment accounts. If they have btc in cold storage and they dont leave keys, it's just gone. Small amount here and there adds up over hundreds of years. Having a finite amount to ever be made doesn't allow for replenishment.
We’ll destroy the earth by entire deforestation in the name of crypto mining fuel before that happens
you mean the discord created from discussions in this thread and the investing thread with a hundred tmb'ers in it including yourself. not a secret. (that is admittedly dead now, not a single message in the crypto channel in a month)
Yes. From my understanding from others the crypto channel in that discord was an outlet to talk crypto and not troll or go down the broken record with user just interesting how it’s all come full circle that’s all
Lol. Btc versus “crypto” is not stock picking. Look no further than us regulation among about a hundred other reasons to understand the difference. If I was trying to pick the next alt, I’d agree with you.
In case you didn't watch Game 5 here's a commercial to reiterate you gotta zoom out and look at the macro!
Hello we're a company reliant on crypto trade volume whose market value has shed 80% this year please use our product we've got mouths to feed too
It’s a log chart to show exponential growth. If you want to put btc on a linear chart, it’ll simply be a straight line up. Weeeeeeee
Id be surprised at this - think Bitcoin hashrate is at all time highs so not sure it’s energy consumption has been reduced all that much Ethereum’s will drop precipitously after the Merge
