I knew he was out officially when he / Pendleton / Abscher took a bunch of photo shoot photos together but Abscher only posted the ones with him and Pendleton
Idiocy not to prioritize Freeling and is the exact thing that many were worried about with Hiestand and recruiting. He’s going to go after the good to really good players who are easy to recruit and not the great players who are harder to recruit.
Absolutely. My comment was about Sampson claiming (spinning?) that Freeling was behind Paige and Jagusah on NDs big board.
Prister had a big reaction when Pete said that, something like “Wait, what?!” That’s exactly how I reacted too.
I enjoy that this group is about as connected to ND recruiting as a fan can possibly be and it’s free ND fucking up OL cruiting under Harry is pretty much the norm. We better get Jagusah or I’ll be seriously disappointed. Michigan is really confident they will get Jagusah (lolololol) but still
Yeah. It’s why they divorced (or broke up, if they were never married) and I think why he left Seattle
I view Paige, Freeling and Jagusah all pretty similarly at this point from their HS film, they don't need 6 OL.Don't think it is a big deal assuming they land Jagusah.
I think Jags is going to be an outstanding guard when it’s all said and done, especially with the wrestling background on leverage. Absher and Paige seem to the the tackle candidates
The norm? Harry tailed off in the end. Fucking up OL recruiting was most definitely NOT the norm. Hell, he's the one who went head to head with Urban for Eichnberg and Kraemer with no help from his own HC and won. On paper, HH had one down class and fans seem to spin it like he was a terrible recruiter. You don't produce those players if you can recruit.
Also needs to be noted we got 4 top 200 OL last year plus a Craig- if we got Jagusah that’s 6 total in two years which seems ok
Not to mention, OL tends to be the least accurate position at which to use rankings. Though Paige is now a composite four star, anyway and continues to rise. He is very athletic and had a great frame. I won't buy the higher than Freeling right now copium, but he has tremendous upside. Otting is simple. They need a guy who looks like a future center who plays with a mean streak like HH likes. There really aren't many of those as HSs don't tend to play their biggest and best OL at center.
It’s fucking hot outside, Columbus is doing rolling blackouts. Really hope my neighborhood avoids it today
wow, other team's reporters are really saying how aggressive we are using NIL...that's crazy this from the Mich reporter
I want this to be true but it reeks of “our staff is shitty and theirs is good at recruiting, but I can’t tell you that and keep you around”
I also didn't understand the take by Tim and Pete that ND would be doing better in recruiting if not for the world of NIL. I feel like that although we won't keep up with the absurdity of the few up front collectives, past that we can clearly demonstrate that players can do quite well with NIL once here. I have to think that is easier for them to keep up with than the old bagman regime.
Being aggressive with a pitch doesn’t necessarily mean the pitch includes guaranteed dollars. I think we’re doing one without the other.
If you haven't noticed yet the ND media is completely controlled- if ND doesnt want them to talk about NIL they sure as shit won't
Yeah we have somehow stumbled into a universe where we are buying players in a more discrete and effective way than basically anyone. Nothing in my 38 years of being an ND fan makes me think such a thing should be possible but I’m pretty happy with it and I’m done asking questions.
Pete really can't help himself sometimes. This conversation plus the Freeling comments... dude is nothing if not consistent with his fight for access to the program.
“My crystal ball is for Dante, but I’m keeping that private on this board only for reasons that I will also keep private” “Hey guys CJ Carr is going to commit today, please don’t talk about Dante Moore” jesus man, just give Rees your login and save yourself a little time.
Nil is just a boogeyman for everyone now when a kid likes another place better. There are like the 5 percent of kids being bought but the rest is noise
I’m not buying Walker getting NIL from ND. They were desperate (thanks Del) but offering a 3* WR a deal? FOH. My guess is ND made the 4/40 pitch and some dipshit thought it was some type of money offer.
He made a lot of comments about nil. But it’s definitely more like look at all these potential Dead once you get here
Kelly is not here anymore my friend, not sure we need to worry about people dying on campus as much as we used to.
