I didn’t notice that the Google return said Naomi was one of Joe’s children who died in the car accident, nor did I read her quote tweet of what Ron said. My reading comprehension took a big hit today.
One being slightly less publicly racist isn’t as big a difference as you think. Every politician over age 35 is only concerned with keeping the status quo. That means programs to help people aren’t happening because it upsets the balance of power. You can try and explain nuance, but I don’t see a single difference between the parties other than blatant racism. Their ideology is exactly the same. Protect the rich, fuck the constituents.
Is this involving some shady campaign donation or something, right??? Apparently attempting to overthrow the gov't is a step to far for the Dem lead DOJ, but DeSantis is just down in Fla arresting his political opponents and killing his citizens via covid....and we just get "Did DeSantis have the right response to COVID??"
What a waste that election was. Graham wasn't a perfect candidate, but she would've beaten Desantis easily in that environment, and we wouldn't have heard about him again.
It's mostly a political move that will look like an attempt to reduce prices which is good. However it's a bandaide. It wont address the supply issues that are the cause of the gas shortage. We are fucking idiots and never learned the lessons of the 70s, so we are suffering the same fate.
Well, the federal gas tax is only 18.4¢ per gallon. So, it will only potentially help so much. Also, just because the federal government doesn’t collect it, doesn’t necessarily mean the o&g companies will decrease the price by the full amount. In fact with the demand vs supply right now, they’d probably be able to keep most of that 18.4¢ and only pass on a few cents savings to consumers. More political than problem solving, and probably creates a few issues.
It will make it look like Biden can control gas prices imo. I don't think feeding into it is the right move
the companies don’t want to refine more gasoline is the problem. They intentionally try not to compete with each other because they don’t want to mess up their margins. I guess if the lesson is to regulate that shit out of gas companies I agree
There has not been a new refinery built for gas in the US since the 70s. We have had a large one go off line because of hurricane wilma. Finally they have started converting some to renewable diesel refining. All of these have cause a serious bottleneck to our ability to refine gasoline.
think Arliden tried to explain why it’s not quite this straight forward based on refining capabilities and raw materials
Where are you getting that info? It is definitely more than it was but it is not three times more. The biggest single year increase by percentage was 2010 to 2011. The US was a net exporter of petroleum products the last few years.
i was wrong it’s about double compared to 2014. We export about 1/4th of the gasoline we produce in this country
We export what local demand does not consume. Prices are global and refining capacity affects those prices. The bottleneck causes price increases as global demand increases. The US uses less gasoline today than we did in 2018.
Oil is the largest component of the cost of gasoline followed by refining/transport and then taxes. Thus the majority of the cost is based on the global commodity of oil and the price of gasoline acts accordingly.
cool so according to the price of oil gas should be about $3.60 a gallon. The crack spread of gas is at an all time high as gasoline companies are making record profits. It’s price gouging, plane and simple. Gasoline is one of the only markets where companies don’t compete with each other on price on purpose.
And I am done. You obviously have little understanding of these markets. You are literally talking about my original point on refineries now.
We’ve become a society ruled by oil and coal barons and that is/has been/and will continue to be a problem.
Listen, everybody, immediately switch to solar and then pray for not cloudy days. If we are good and don’t sin, skyman won’t have to flood us out. am I nailing this energy thing cause I feel like I’m nailing it
