Please quit mentioning FSU as a team the SEC wants. They bring absolutely nothing to the table on the field or off the field in terms of a new media market.
I mean Oregon makes more sense tv wise because I assume Big Ten network isn't standard programming like it is here but I don't know for sure
Looks like this thread was the end: https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/good-job-canada.177718/
The SEC wants a large growing city market that doesn't have a professional team. Ignore that it's near Gainesville
*I think* the grant of rights is controlled by espn, so there could be an out if it was financially worthwhile to add them to the SEC. I could see that happening if the big 10 adds a ton of teams and they want a conference of similar size.
Cliffs appear to be he called people pedophiles, and it was also around the time that the mods purged "the shit pit"
Tallahassee isn't a top 100 media market in the country (107 actually). Chattanooga is a bigger market.
i like them. Generally on Saturday during CFB I wake around 730-8 up go on a run or ride get home start breakfast and sit in front of the tv watching cfb all day. Can’t imagine anyone thinking it’s a bad thing.
Market wise, Denver isn’t currently in the footprint so they have to charge a lower number. So just looking at markets, Oregon brings the lowest number into the footprint since Seattle and Denver are above Portland. But they’re close enough that it’s certainly feasible they’d still choose Oregon
Ah yeah I don't think they add anything UF doesn't already have covered except a better on field product.
here’s the scenario 1) ACC invites west virginia so the conference can kill that absurd contract 2) UNC, UVa, ND, ga tech join the big ten 3) miami, FSU, clemson, va tech join the sec 4) louisville, pitt, NCSU join the big 12 5) mountaineer mad
For all 200 people in Atlanta who watch Georgia Tech football? It's a completely irrelevant program with no fans/viewers.
That's not the way it works... we have to do this every time realignment comes up. 25% of the board doesn't understand how TV contracts and media markets work.
Rutgers is so lucky they got invited to the Big 10 when people cared about markets. I mean they are going to be forever irrelevant but they will be cashing nice checks.
Can't blame them. It's an elitist, nerdy engineering school in the middle of the Hip Hop capital of the US. No future.
that's not true in even the slightest bit. john skipper podcast on lebatard network can explain why it is still the major factor despite cord cutting.
They ran the option and sucked for years. I imagine a couple of big wins could get the Ramblin Wreck cranked back up
They have been away from the option for a few years and just continue to get worse. They need a beyond home run hire to make anyone care again. UGA finally winning a title probably didn't help.
God the B1G is sending Northwestern and Nebraska to Ireland this year. Just wait until USC and OSU play in Seoul while Rutgers and UCLA play in Peyongchang.
