even if mikey defies all odds and comes back slangin, we need another starter as good as spenc is, he’s already into uncharted territory innings wise and we have to manage them pretty strictly to get him to october
I’m with you. Just saying on 7/2, Spencer Strider is the 3rd starter for the Atlanta Braves of Atlanta
Kid is doing special things. I hope we do everything right to protect his arm long term while maximizing what we get out of him this season. I have no idea what that entails. I just hope we do it.
Also, a gentle reminder that all of our stars are in their 20s and our championship window just opened
Don’t forget that Contreras wasn’t expected to be on the club this season until Manny Piña got injured.
When is Ozzie projected to return? Get Rosario back, Ozzie back, hopefully Ronnie heats up, fuck shit up. We're sweeping the MFing Mets next week.
Just saw that deGrom grew up in DeLand, FL and was a Braves fan as a kid due to a certain fella also from there. That makes me think there might be something more to the reports that he’d be interested in joining the Braves than my initial impression of his agent simply getting more money from Cohen by leaking he might opt out and go to the biggest division threat.
I’d be worried about signing him for a huge deal. Guy cannot stay healthy so I doubt that’ll change as he ages.
Outside of his start against the Giants when his velo disappeared, his numbers since the start of June have been cartoonish: 3-0, 25.1 IP, 13 H, 42 K, 9 BB (5 in one start), .87 WHIP, 15 K/9
I feel like it might be a bit sacrilegious to suggest Ronnie bat anywhere but leadoff, but I’d love to see a lineup of Money Bae Ronnie Riley Oly TdA/Wild Bill Duvy Asshole (until Rosario gets back) Arcia (until Oz gets back) While Money has been great at setting the table for the top of the order, having him bat 9th is losing way too many plate appearances for him, imo. He has proven to be special and there’s no reason to believe that his production would be significantly different at leadoff as he already has been approaching the game as a table setter who can also drive in guys when the opportunities arise. Also, I’d love to give Ronnie a different look to see if that gets him going. Not to mention that that 1-6 is a murderers’ row, and 7-9 has potential to be potent still, especially after Rosario (and Oz) comes back. That 3-4-5-6 would be by far the scariest in baseball when healthy and producing. Could have 225+ XBH among themselves by season’s end.
I too share those concerns. I wouldn’t do anything beyond 2 years, but it be tough to say no if he wanted to sign for that short of a commitment to chase a ring.
There was a weird thing in last year’s version of the Show where DeGrom only signed one-year contracts in my Franchise mode once he hit FA. I think he was the only one who that happened with.
Cubs have to just be stringing them along in Wilson Contreras negotiations, right? Demand an absurdly big prospect and wait until the Braves get close enough that they pull the trigger...
Something Moylan mentioned on DOB’s podcast the other day that I hadn’t really thought about is something that makes what strider is doing even more remarkable. There’s lots of video out on strider now, so there’s no more surprises. Everyone who steps into the box against him knows what’s coming and they still can’t touch him. He gets so many ridiculous whiffs
People are saying that the Jesse Chavez Cameo that I commissioned changed the trajectory of his career
He does just enough about once a week to make you think he’s getting his shit together, then he disappears the rest of the week.
