Yeah, the velocity was a bit concerning. But even if he never returns to form I’ll still always love him, and I will think of him almost exclusively as spinning off the mound after the Betts K. They showed that highlight half inning on the jumbotron during a middle of an inning in the first game against the Dodgers and I still had chills.
met fans: durrrr we just need max back and we are gonna cruise to the pennant *lose scherzer’s first start*
Gotta give Contreras credit in how unafraid he is to change his stance/swing mid-season if he starts to struggle. Did it a few times last year, did it again this year in just the last few days, and hits a HR in his first AB after doing so.
I don’t think Seitzer gets enough credit. He’s cycled some young guys through the team the past few seasons. He may struggle with affecting the veterans but with the changes and success Acuna and Harris have made, and Young thicc’s improvement, and now Bill, he clearly has been an asset to the team.
He'd be the first since that memorable 1936 Charlie "the Mechanical Man" Gehringer season for the Tigers.
