That dumb kid thought he was being funny lighting a mortar off the ground instead of in a tube. He could have killed everyone there.
I asked DuckKin and didn’t get a reply so I’ll ask you honestly all jokes aside what is there to be proud of right now?
Oh there’s all kinds of things to not be happy about with our country currently, and since it’s inception honestly. But not everything happening in our country is awful. I’m not a political person, but I tried answering that the best I could at 2am
it’s hard for me to think about anything to find pride in right now especially anything that’s uniquely American. That’s why I’m genuinely asking you. What is there to be proud of?
My cat is not bothered by fireworks or storms at all...but you start up a lawnmower nearby and she's under the bed immediately
For those with pets who don't like the noise I would recommend getting Sileo. It's a gel that goes on the gums and they're knocked out in about 10 minutes. We give it to our dog and it works great. You can give it to cats as well. It didn't work great on our cat the few times we tried it. He wasn't as bad this year like in previous years fortunately.
Did he then light the rest of the stash or was that a delayed explosion from the mortar? Looked like he at least looked over there and walked away
We still doing pet census? Our dog (smol) is unfazed by firework sounds. Don’t ring the doorbell though
I don’t remember the context, but awhile back DuckKin posted some chuddy shit and got ran off the board . He tried to have his account deleted but apparently he’s back. Only reason I noticed this was because I was on the newsfeed one day and remembered his little melty
There was a fucking attempt at a coup and the person that helped organize it will be handed power back in two years. We can’t go eight hours without people shooting each other up, and a bunch of funky old men have decided what women can and can’t (mostly can’t) do with their bodies a year after a political party made “my body my right” a rally cry for a mask that might help other people. This country is selfish and stupid and about to be fully run by the religious right. If any of this makes you want to say Merica Fuck Yeah, good on you. It fucking sucks and hopefully it’s put out of its misery in the next decade.
If the system works for you, why buck it? To use a family situation, I think that’s the reasoning for my sister’s apathy.
Yep, if you’re a white upper middle class male, the systems failings don’t really affect you. Nothing that has been taken from so many other people are your concern and people are selfish as fuck.
It’s more “I don’t think about politics because my life is fine” which is a garbage existence but it you don’t have sympathy for anyone or don’t want to think about these changes because it might negatively affect you happens.
Then the answer to your question is no one is not political. If apathy is still a political viewpoint in your opinion then everyone is political. Jake Barnes was just offering up a rationale for the apathy.
Sorry Daniel Ocean, I didnt respond to you initially, but I have been really trying to think of something that is a true positive and not just a joke or something. I couldn’t find any positives that are distinctly American.
Jan 6th, Covid, and everything else was really depressing to me. I wanted to take a break. Figured I needed to toss the cookies out instead of hiding them in the garage.
Is it nerdy to say there are a lot of Americans as individuals that I am proud of? Like Im proud of MLK and Malcom X even though the context around them was Jim Crow Laws and other systematic oppression.
"it doesn't affect me so I don't pay attention" is a an ignorant, dumb, and profoundly incorrect position. First of all, things can and will get worse for upper middle class white dudes. Secondly, the status quo is also shitty for upper middle class white dudes in a lot of ways.
Thinking about how nauseating, in both directions, the discourse around the 250th anniversary will be in three years.
