The 21-year-old man accused of opening fire at a suburban Chicago Fourth of July parade, killing seven people and injuring dozens of others, plotted another attack in Madison, Wisconsin, authorities said Wednesday. After fleeing the scene of the parade, Robert "Bobby" Crimo III "was driving around, saw a celebration in Madison," and "contemplated another attack," with "60 rounds on his body at that point," authorities said at a news conference Wednesday. But he "had not done enough planning" and decided not to do it, authorities said. After returning from Wisconsin, Crimo was apprehended at at traffic stop in Lake Forrest, Illinois, Monday evening.
Everything is awful. The story about the orphaned two year old is absolutely gutting. Donated to his go fund me. It is way too easy to obtain firearms. Too young to buy a beer and too crazy for knives...but can buy an assault rifle.... I don't know what law changes can stop these things from happening but we have to try something because these thoughts and prayers are only going to get more people killed. -Ban Assault Rifles. -Increase the age for buying a firearm to like 25 or something with no loop holes or exceptions. -Add or increase the wait time to like a year or something. -Close all gun show sales/loop holes. -Make there be a super intense training, certification, and approval process for anyone to get a firearm that has to be renewed like a drivers license. -Make gun dealers responsible for how people use the weapons they sold. -Make gun owners carry firearm insurance policies. -Make gun owners be fully responsible for how their firearms are used (looking at the parents of shooters). -Increase the things that disqualify you from gun ownership to include mental illness- could even make it so anyone prescribed certain medications are not eligible. -Put a 100% tax on firearms and ammunition. All funds go to the above programs.
Kind of a weird plug, but I saw a former client of mine on the top donors of Aiden’s gofundme. They were always very good to me. Chicago, DC, MSP, and a few other areas. Founders 2020 donations were all blue. https://www.lettuce.com/restaurants/
Dunno your beliefs before, in regards to politics and/or religion, but has it changed any? If so, how?
Damn man. I’m glad you and your kids are okay. And I’m sorry you had to experience that. You did as best as can be expected in that situation. I’m sure it was fucking terrifying and chaotic.
I didn’t know you could kill as many people with a spoon as you could with an AR. What’s the point in having an AR then if there’s a bad guy with a spork?
That argument pisses me off so much. It’s not about eliminating murders, it’s about reducing the number of deaths per attack you god damn idiots. If the Uvalde asshole had a handgun or fucking knife instead of a semi automatic rifle the cops wouldn’t have been as scared to enter the fucking classroom it’s the same idiots that said vaccines and masks were useless because you can still get covid
I’m not religious. I have always been in favor of gun control and that obviously won’t change. In no way should some piece of shit kid or any other citizen have access to automatic or semi automatic weapons capable of inflicting mass casualties in a matter of seconds. I don’t think this will change my mind about buying a gun for protection, either. not next to me, no. The shooter was on a rooftop on the corner of central and 2nd and fired across the street to the east side of the street. I was on central between 1st and 2nd on the east side of the street, a half block away from the shots. If you saw the video that was filmed from behind a screen and was widely circulated….that was almost directly above me. I do know multiple people who were shot and injured. Don’t know any of the deceased, without knowing the identity of the 7th person who died. not yet, tbh. I honestly don’t think I would be nearly as effected by this if my wife and kid weren’t there. It was horrifying for sure but having that many rounds being fired right next to us and not knowing where my kid was was easily the worst feeling of my entire life. You can hear me scream “where’s my daughter!” in the video as he reloads. Just total panic and desperation. My heart speeds up just thinking about it. believe it or not, I heard what i was almost certain was gunfire tonight. Sounded kind of far away. About 18-24 shots. I immediately called the police and they said they were getting lots of calls about gunfire on a specific street that must be at least 5-6 blocks away from me. I never got a call back from them so I don’t know if it was actually gunfire or fireworks or whatever, but either way, I am just shocked. I have never heard a gun fired in this area my entire life so I was on pretty high alert after that. I was also absolutely disgusted that one person in my neighborhood set off fireworks Monday night. Completely clueless and moronic.
Just spoke with FBI. the shooter was not on the roof of Uncle Dans as has been reported, he was on the roof of Ross’s. even closer than I had thought.
That recounting sounds as horrifying as I could have imagined but still somehow worse. Glad you and yours are ok. Sucks some people's are not. Maybe things will change one day
I believe I heard that the shooter had two 30 round magazines for the gun and that those are somehow legal. Insanity.
My god. This gives me a pit in my stomach. Can’t even imagine how terrifying this is, even as one of the “lucky” ones.
Only 9 states have laws restricting magazine capacity. The Dayton shooter a few years ago had a 100-round drum mag on his weapon. Completely legal. Allowed him to fire 41 rounds into a crowd in less than 30 seconds, killing 9 and hitting 17 others.
Pretty great that I don't feel comfortable taking my wife and kid to any event where there will be a lot of people. Freedom is so amazing. So glad you and your family are safe GGCD
Debated taking Roo to the World Games here in Birmingham, but between Covid and the fact I don’t trust large crowds and she gets anxiety from them I think we will just watch at home. After my ordeal I got into a routine of knowing exits and being wary of entrances in any building or environment, but with the rise in shootings especially when I’m with family my eyes constantly check without me realizing what I’m even doing.
I had my daughters with me two different trips one to the market one to pick up some wings. Generally I’d run in grab the shit I need and run out. These last two times (market I was with my wife too) getting out my wife says “ with the way shit is now, let’s take the girls with us” when I went pick up the wings I had my youngest again a simple run in and out type thing. When I got out my youngest got out too without being asked. She told me she didn’t feel safe sitting in car by herself. We live in a fucked up country in a beyond fucked up time.
Yeah I feel that and yeah fuck this shit sadly I just see it getting worse and with us having daughters this hell is only beginning.
Not what I meant when I said more people should be talking about what's happening in that part of the internet
Wife and I went to a baseball game last night. Oldest daughter (12) before we left kept saying she didn’t want us to be in a mass shooting, and texted us every 45 minutes or so during the game to check on us the psychological damage we’ve done to children is horrifying and I can’t even wrap my head around it
I’m going to a mid sized music festival (probably 20k people) next weekend in Chicago, and am honestly thinking about just eating the tickets. Sick fucking country
26,000 Kids Could Be Alive Today If US Had Same Gun Mortality Rate as Canada The United States is home to 97% of the gun-related child deaths that have occurred in one dozen of the world's wealthiest nations in recent years. https://www.commondreams.org/news/2...dium=Email&utm_campaign=daily_newsletter_text
I'm in the US (Ft Lauderdale) now and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling a bit jumpy in public areas when Id see a guy who looked weird.
I'm in texas and it's the first thing I thought of yesterday when I saw the two guys in front of each other honking in traffic. Sucks, man
We have our own issues with gun violence but at least I never really feel like I'm gonna be randomly killed for fun. It's more confined to gang/drug activity. Handguns are illegal except under very specific circumstances here but it's so easy for people who are running drugs anyway to get guns in from the US.
The FBI didn’t finish over 1 million gun background checks in time to stop a sale in 2020 and 2021 As gun sales soared over the past two years, more background checks slipped through holes in the system. We need to stop all sells until we figue this out
