the framing of this Griner situation by the Sports media is annoying and like the Deputy Foreign Minister hinted at by making it so public and having her wife go to the media like once a week is making the situation worse. Everything is being framed like it is some domestic issue and they don’t mention the context of other cases like Trevor Reed, the State Department warnings, and the Ukraine war. Espn doesn’t get Putin and Russia.
Also, it sounds like she knowingly traveled to a foreign country with thc. Like YO! that’s a bad idea.
There's Americans locked up for nonviolent drug offenses all over the world. I mean... not to mention our own country... I mean like... Maybe the US should stop locking people up for marijuana ***IN THIS COUNTRY*** Not that I don't sympathize with Griner -- she did something stupid, but still -- I'm sympathetic to her plight. But there's also thousands of other people languishing in the US prison system for similar offenses.
Lordy if Ukraine hits that bridge it will be a huge propaganda success. Maybe even some strategic success do it
From what I understand she had been carrying her vape over there for years as she was working with one of putins oligarchs and rules are loose. Then they turned the rules on, possibly specifically for her.
idk how to embed an Instagram reel but it’s really cute and sad! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CgKTyIVpuak/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
oh yes, they are going to go for the bridge when they can. The rumor is they are getting some of the 300km range HIMARS rounds. blow the bridge and keep hitting the rail lines in russian controlled areas.
We should've let them bomb the bridge from the start (well they probably didn't have the hardware to do that). It's been a super important Russian train line to move troops and military supplies to Crimea and the rest of southern Ukraine. That bridge has to go if Ukraine wants to successfully start to take back its rightful southern territories. It has to be disabled.
Not looking for this to dovetail into a larger political discussion, but what rationale do they have to vote no? I don’t understand how it would affect the US one way or the other.
The Air Force has been trying to ditch the A-10s forever. No doubt they would be willing to send them away for destruction. One of the bigger blogger from Ukriane stated that they hit the Kherson Bridge with the HIMARS (damage but not extensive). Need more confirmation but they need a bigger warhead/longer range to cause greater damage to go after the prize Kerch bridge.
Illegal 1,000-Foot 'Vodka Pipeline' Discovered In Ukraine By Bill Galluccio July 21, 2022 Spoiler Ukrainian authorities announced the discovery of an illegal "vodka pipeline" used to transport the bootleg booze to Moldova. The pipeline, which was nearly 1,000 feet long, was discovered by border patrol agents near the city of Podilsk. "Three hundred meters of polyethylene pipe stretched from the state border underground in the direction of the private home of a 32-year-old citizen of Ukraine," the Ukrainian government said in a statement, according to Vice. "Previously, the discovered highway was used for the illegal transfer of alcohol to Ukraine from the Transnistrian segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border." Officials have launched an investigation into the pipeline and said they plan to dismantle it. The State Border Service of Ukraine shared a video on YouTube showing officials filling a plastic jug with vodka from the pipeline.
KYIV, Ukraine—Russia launched a missile attack on Ukraine’s key grain-exporting port of Odessa hours after signing an international agreement to lift its blockade of the Black Sea coastline and allow for the transport of grain and other foodstuffs necessary to alleviate a looming global food crisis. The attack on Odessa appeared to violate the terms of the United Nations-brokered agreement signed by Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul on Friday, which stipulated that both countries would refrain from attacking port facilities or civilian ships used for grain transport, according to a copy of the agreement reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the strike, saying in a statement that all parties had committed to ensuring the safe movement of Ukrainian grain shipments.
Just a hunch but it may have to do with the current am nutjob radio talking points about not giving more money to Ukraine. Gotta win over those idiot voters for primaries.
