That picture was heading into the 18th green at Silvertip. Green fees were actually just $99CAD ($70USD) since I played twilight and one hole was under construction. Did have to pay another $50 for rentals though.

Stewart’s Creek was more expensive (played during the day) with green fees of $225 CAD. After rentals and a rider fee for my wife, I was in about $250USD. Overall, this course and venue were nicer and just a better golf layout in my opinion. Both were awesome experiences though.

Had an elk walk across the fairway 50 yards away as I was about to tee off. By the time I got to the cart to take a picture, it had already moved on. Saw various other small animals, but unfortunately (and fortunately) no bears. We bought bear spray and carried it with us everywhere and while I am obviously glad we didn’t come close to using it, I wouldn’t have mind seeing a bear from a far.

It absolutely was. I had only planned to play Stewart Creek but on the last day my wife just wanted to hang around the Airbnb and pack. Rather than sitting around myself, I was able to get a last minute tee time at Silvertip. As someone who usually plays at 300ft elevation, I’m going to miss hitting my gap wedge 140 at 5,000ft elevation.

For future reference, I was also told Kananaski golf course and Banff Springs are awesome courses in the area.

I really like my hard-shell, spinner Amazon basics set. On Prime Day, I got my wife a 3 piece set for $150. Mine have held up well for about 3-4 years now.

We definitely overlap, we’re in Banff 8/31-9/2; jealous of the length of your stay, wife’s work schedule only allows her to do a short trip that weekend but we wanted to go longer

Spending 5 nights in Tuscany (Gaiole in Chianti) and 4 nights in Florence in September. The number of Michelin starred restaurants in the area is somewhat overwhelming and difficult to parse through. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Save a buck and go to Osteria di Casa Chianti (in Certaldo). Best meal we had in Tuscany.

The "Butcher Of Tuscany", aka the crazy butcher from Master of None, is worth the trip if you can swing it. Not the best meal I've had, but certainly unique and memorable

He was on an episode of Bourdain’s No Reservations back in the day. I did a full day wine tour from Florence, which included a stop at his shop for a ton of table wine and meats. Got to meet him as well. Loud rambunctious bastard. Was probably a good way to experience it.

We have booked the trip in its entirety.

Fly into Frankfurt and take a train to Interlaken. Spend 3 nights there and then take a train from Interlaken to Lugano. This train ride should be really beautiful (through the alps and Swiss/Italian countryside). 3 nights in Lugano and then a night in Zurich and a night in Frankfurt before we fly home.

In the middle of a Mediterranean trip. Cinque Terre was a great thing to do….once. Sweltering heat and huge crowds for sure. Dubrovnik was awesome, the Croatian people are so damn true and lovable. That was my first time back since Split/Hvar with ths in 2013. We’re leaving Santorini now for Paros.

Santorini surpassed all expectations, just hard to believe it’s a real place. Food was incredible everywhere, maybe best food country with Italy overall in my experience. It would be perfect if they didn’t allow 4 cruise ships to dock and unload their parasites every day, but I’m sure the money is good for the local economy.

It’s a total tourist thing to do, but I liked taking the funicular to the top above Interlaken. That’s where I took the photo posted earlier.

It’s basically a vertical train car that climbs the mountain. They have a little cafe at the top and some trails along the top, with great views.

They also have paragliding on another mountain on the other side of town, basically running off the mountain with a guide to fly over town and land in a field below. Didn’t try that though.

We were supposed to do this in 2020. Had a beautiful airbnb in Wengen rented but then covid hit.

Ex-gf and her family did the paragliding, I think it starts in Wengen and ends in Lauterbrunnen but not sure anymore, it was several years ago

You're on a pretty decent train route to get to a lot of places; about an hour from Liverpool, two from London and York, three from Scotland. OR come to the swinging hip city of Peterborough! (Do not come to PBo; it's like visiting the UK equivalent of Indianapolis)

I land August 14 and return August 20. I’d love to attend a premier league game.

Thanks for the tips. I’d like to knock out as much as I can and tour a castle in Scotland, too. How much time should I allot for London? Also, one person I asked said I must visit Canterbury, but I’m skeptical. Thoughts?

Liverpool home opener is Monday August 15th against Crystal Palace.

That may be difficult to get a ticket to but if you can do it, I would recommend at least looking into it to see what the train would cost and if you are able to get tickets

the town is posh, nice canal, and an incredible cathedral (only reason to go imo unless you just love canterbury tales) Their prime time of year is June-to-July. So you may not have as bad of crowds.

dont try to do too much imo. Just focus on London imo.

Hawks11 since I was just sitting around I looked and it’s super cheap to get from Manchester to Liverpool (Like under £5) and then it’s like a 40 minute walk/10 minute drive from Lime Street station to Anfield (estimated under £10 taxi)

Just an idea of what you’d be looking at for travel and it looks like there are trains back as late as 11:30PM.

Match ticket though would either have to be bought secondary (Looks like under £200) or a hospitality ticket (£300+)
