thanks! i noticed that she wasn't limping like that after sleeping on my bed and also seemed okay when waking from the couch so i wonder if it's bed related. i bought her a new bed a month ago so i'm wondering if there's something to do with the way the bed peaks on the edges + if it's too thin and she's getting sore. this was what i bought: i'm still waiting to hear back from my vet but i did email them my videos and we can pop in for a test if they want it. otherwise, we'll stay inside (which is fine because there's a heat wave coming) and just try and chill out.
Today is moving day. I upgraded from an apartment to a house with a yard. Freddie could not be more stoked!
Meet Chance just got him a few days ago from our gf’s niece. We just moved into a new house we are renting with a big backyard and tons of space. His former owners were awful and even at 7 months old never took him to the vet once. He is sweet dog with bad habits, but outside of some jumping to play has got along with our 4 year old daughter and the person we caretake for.
Great mix, I definitely notice the pibble in him. Get ready to deal with likely skin allergies! Worth every penny, though
The rescue I got Hank from claimed he was a lab mix, too. Pfffffft, pure ass pittie. Must be a marketing thing.
Dogs labeled as pits sit longer in shelters due to people not educating themself on the breed plus the majority of the population renting and most of the places or people you rent from ban pits
Niece said the mom was full lab but also when we took him to the vet saying he was having problems babying his left hip. Vet checked said if it gets worse call otherwise we will X-ray when he gets neutered. Told niece she said oh yeah I forgot to mention he got run over by a truck a few months ago. Yeah must have slipped your mind stupid fucking people.
Good looking pup man, nice get and good on you for taking him away from that place, Roo must love him
She is so used to Ace and older dogs. Chance still is a puppy, so he tries to nip and tackle Roo since they are the same size and it scares her plus she really needs to know if it is on the floor he will go for it, but that will come with time. Overall this will be great for her
Realize TMB is for the big dogs but thought I’d share these guys two anyway. Both Italian greyhound rescues. Penny on the right is my first dog. I got her at age 11 and was roundly ridiculed/admonished by family and friends for adopting a dog of such advanced age. Well, she’s now 16 going on 17 and other than slowing down a bit, is in good health. So fuck them. Vinny, on the left, was a foster fail. Got him a couple months after I got Penny because I thought she was lonely/depressed. The first thing you probably notice is his goofball tongue hanging out of his mouth- his prior family left him out in the yard most of the day (in NJ) and rarely got him any care. So his teeth got super bad and he had to have all but 3 pulled prior to me getting him. When the couple got divorced neither of them wanted him, but I’m told they did fight over a toy poodle they also had (Vinny became a yard dog because he didn’t get along with said poodle). Now he’s my right hand man and we spoil the shit out of both of them.
The newest member of the family; Baloo. For those counting “we” now have 8 bulldogs. I have 2, my daughter has 3 and her fiancé mom and brother have 3. He is my eldest’s daughter’s. He got turned down by two different buyers so she got him a little cheaper than what the breeder wanted.
Nidas is the older bulldog in the picture he is Flash’s dad and he is getting up there and starting to have health issues so I think they got him to help them and him.
i took her to the vet a couple of weeks ago and they gave me some dog aspirin or ibuprofen for her to take here is what she is looking like now in the AM it looks like she is still favoring her left leg just a tad but it's definitely an improvement. we went for our first real walk today so I'm curious what she'll look like tomorrow morning. i haven't noticed the same level of limping at all.
they speculated that it was either arthritis or some other injury to her left leg, hence the anti-inflammatory. we didn't do an x-ray; that was only in the plans if the limp still persisted after taking the meds/more time.
My husky could care less about our baby, lol. He's never been much of a snuggler, but hopefully he warms up to her once she's moving around on her own.
Darwin’s little sister stayed with my dad while she was recovering from ACL. During that time, despite the grumpy old cuss saying for the last 30 years that he’d never have another dog, they bonded. Makes his life so much better because he has someone to take care of so she is living there now. It’s close by but Darwin needs a lil sister companion and non compete gives me time to train a pup. Never thought I’d own a doodle but here we are. with no further ado may I present El (girls named her Eloise but iv already got them writing her name as 11)
I think I have to stop bring truman to the dog park. As a puppy all he wanted to do was wrestle w other dogs. Then around 3 he would only do that with dogs he was friends with and knew. Most of the time it was all about fetch. He'll still play with his friends, but is becoming extremely intolerant of puppies and younger dogs. Any dog that comes up to him w a lot of energy he gives a growl for about 2 seconds then goes after them. It's now happened 3 times in 2 weeks. Just sucks because the dog park has always been a big part of our routine. He loves going there.
Dog parks are such a mixed bag, you never know what kind of dogs/dog owners are going to show up. My dog Rei got bitten within the first 45 seconds of going into one pre-pandemic, opened up a quarter sized hole on her shoulder and pierced her right armpit. Not going back.
Here’s my two German shepherds. My daughter can be outside on her tree swing or swing set and they’ll sit right by her the entire time, Atlas(the male) especially watches over her. Atlas Spoiler Luna Spoiler [\spoiler]
Happy to post in here again. Today I adopted this 12-18 month old Boxer. Shitty owners abandoned him and some neighbors found him. He was at the rescue place for about 4 months because nobody wanted a Boxer with a long tail. He's going to need some training but he's the sweetest fucking dog. Weighs about 54 lbs
Just the way the breed is? Not sure if it's standard or whatever but lots of people want them to look like this.
if it’s like with Rotties than it’s a “show dog” thing which is weird because they are born with tails so the standard should be having them keep their tails.
Here's the AKC standard https://images.akc.org/pdf/breeds/standards/Boxer.pdf Ears - Set at the highest points of the sides of the skull, the ears are customarily cropped, cut rather long and tapering, and raised when alert. If uncropped, the ears should be of moderate size, thin, lying flat and close to the cheeks in repose, but falling forward with a definite crease when alert. The tail is set high, docked, and carried upward. An undocked tail should be severely penalized.
Sweet Chloe had to have surgery today to remove a mass from her chest that is most likely cancer. Please send good vibes her way, because she’s the absolute best.
