They walk a fine line between saying sexual relations between people of the same sex is a sin and saying that same sex attraction is part of God's plan and those people can be part of the church.
more like the popular thing. There’s a reason they decided black people could stay black and be faithful right after the civil rights era.
Maybe not always but it wasn’t too long ago that church leadership said they would not condemn gay marriage secularly.
IDK why but this reminded me of the time missionaries approached my stepdad and he asked them what they thought of Mitt Romney buying hookers and blow for the IOC to win the SLC Olympic bid. Needless to say, they didn’t stick around long.
Susan Collins was allegedly going to spend all day in the SCIF going over the confidential files. And then gave a 20 minute speech defending him.
I'm reading Rise of the Warrior Cop and didn't realize Nixon had four appointees and Ford had one too. So that's 8 appointees for impeached/disgraced regimes in just 12 years while Clinton/Obama get four in 16 years. Add in Reagan's four and lol at anyone who doesn't acknowledge this shit stain of a government institution as illegitimate.
People assuming republicans are acting in good faith despite that never actually being the case has been the largest issue affecting this country for like 50+ years. The unwillingness to just call them on that despite it being the case in like 95% of the shit they do is rage inducing. Worst part is, if a politician started doing it the media would paint them as being the problem
Im sure most are aware of it, but the 5-4 podcast is very good. This week's episode previews the cases on this term's docket. Very good and informative. And funny
Shit is just too bleak for me right now. Love the pod and think Peter is fucking hilarious but it just makes me too upset
I love that these justices still act like law, logic, precedent, and intent actually matter to the ghouls in robes next to them.
That is most direct ive seen any of the liberal justices shit over their argument. Usually they speak more obliquely.
I don’t know many black women, but the ones I do are usually pretty direct and don’t mince words. Insert “saving democracy” meme here
to be clear, that account is squarely in the "retweet if you agree" camp of annoying twitter accounts, but I tend to agree with the premise here, that the wife of Clarence Thomas (if not ol' Clarence himself) was deeply involved in the coup attempt on 1/6/21 and Don has shit in those files pertaining to 1/6.
Insane. This is probably a very ignorant question but was his defense lawyer a public defendant and if it wasn’t, does that/should that matter? Like - if he hired a shitty attorney, is that on him, vs it being on the state assigning a shitty public defendant ?
It doesn’t matter (partly because nothing matters, partly because every client is owed a duty of competence from their lawyer whether you pick them or they get appointed for you)
