sign me the f up for that Big Gigantic 10/14 show since I'll be attending weekend 1 of ACL. Have a feeling the 45min ACL set isn't gonna quench my Big G thirst. their album from this year had some damn good music on it. Paid and Just the Same were bangers also can walk to Emos from the GFs apartment
Definitely went thru a beef rib phase when I first moved here, as those practically don't exist in the southeast (or at least I never saw one cooked or served in 28 years down there).
Just signed a lease on an overpriced one bedroom on East 6th street guys, I’m officially part of the problem
Okay fine now I’m having Interstellar for lunch. Just got here, 12 people in front of me. I’d expect it to be worse on a Saturday and the line can move really slow. Pastrami Burger special today. Okay then.
Uchiko J Carver's Neighborhood Sushi Dai Due (Not a steakhouse per se but really really good meat that they butcher in house)
Austin Land and Cattle is my favorite local steak spot and very reasonable. Every steak comes with a side so really good bang for the buck.
Uchi and Uchiko can be expensive or not so bad, just depends on what you order, there is some good filler stuff there that is cheap (brussels sprouts fried in fish caramel, the Kabocha, etc) Jcarvers ran me 600 for 4 people last time I went Neighborhood was 400 for 2 people last few times I've been My fav sushi spot (and its cheap) is Sushi Junae Omikase downtown Perrys & Bobs are good downtown for steak as well. I like ALC also. Fukomoto on the eastside is another awesome sushi spot, they have great yakitori and a whole menu section dedicated to Toro (my fave). Its definitely got a less uppity more weird austin vibe. Not sure how far you want to drive or how asian you want to get (meaning fusion vs traditional) but Honey Pig just opened and its my fav korean bbq, Sazan is (imo) the best ramen in austin, House of 3 gorges is amazing Sichuan, Seoulju has great korean fried chicken and karaoke.
awesome, it appears Austin's asian food scene has really exploded. I’m leaning toward musashino. Thoughts?
I like musashino a lot. I think the nigiri at my downtown spot is better but musashino has more variety.
Throwing Soto - South Lamar on the list for Asian fusion top spots. Not as expensive as the Uchi/Uchiko tier. Very good nigiri and some really damn good small plate apps Also second on Musashino. Haven't been in years but remember it being good and don't have to deal with the downtown hubbub
FC game was litty titty last night. We got a damn good soccer team. Pretty pumped about getting some playoff tickets with season ticket. Wasn't expecting that when I got them last year
Oh my interstellar beef rib with chimichurri peach tea glazed pork belly bites pulled lamb shoulder Scalloped potatoes Gouda Mac n cheese I’m dead
Did a little walking around behind Summer House after brunch on Sunday and had no idea that "music lane" existed over there. Reminded me a lot of the Bishop Arts district in Dallas. Really cool area. Managed to drop $200 between Perla's and Summer House though
I am. And I have two Friday VIP wristbands for sale if you know anyone who may be interested. I’ll sell them for $300 each (half price).
