Once is a mistake, especially if they come up and apologize. Twice is them being an asshole, which happened to me a month ago at Chambers Bay.
I’m so awkward on par 5’s. Hate laying up in the event that I flush one and get it close to the green or the group ahead thinks I’m pushing them and I hate being that loser that waits for the green to clear when I have no intention of trying to get it there.
If you have the length to chase the green, let it clear and give it a rip. You're not holding up play and will likely be right back on pace on the next hole. In no way should you let that affect your mindset before making a swing.
Been hit in the face with a golf ball before. 0/10 would not recommend. I will say in my youth, my group did get hit into once and in a fit of rage I grabbed my 3wood and smoked it right back at them. It was at that moment I realized I fucked up. Ball just narrowly missed em and I breathed a sigh of relief. Bigger rage moments are when someone not playing your hole drives into your fairway (when you have the right of way) and either slows you down or gives you that super anxious moment where they’re gonna pick a ball from your groups tee shots.
It’d be cool if courses would adopt what we did back in junior golf tournaments. Once you’re on a reachable par 5, mark and let the group behind go for it
Never been hit into in my life til we joined a club in Amarillo and it happened all the fucking time. Made me rage. Hasn’t happened at my new club even though we have a blind tee shot with a periscope to check if it’s clear…and the periscope has been broken for 4 months.
I hit one of my best friends dad when I was in highschool or college. I hit a perfect draw off the tee on a blind dogleg left and it one hopped into him. I'm walking up the fairway after my drive and I see my ball at the beginning of the fairway and think oh fuck. I knew I was playing behind him and apparently he chucked it back Luckily he's an orthopedic surgeon so he had good care for any injury
Buddy got smoked in the back playing the road hole at St Andrews - by a member of our own foursome. That was awkward.
Pretty sure I posted this, but it's been basically a year ago to the day since my buddy shanked one at me and broke my hand.
Alan Shipnuck is the type of father who's kids call him Alan so that screenshot is not surprising at all. Also doesn't surprise me. He's a real pos.
Me: follows Alexandra O’Laughlin on instagram and always wonders why she’s employed by Golf Channel Spoiler [/spoiler] Also me: oh yeah
Well yes, I do follow Paige for the thirst trap pics as well, I thought that was the point of instagram. I’m not desperate enough to buy her calendar though
Don't know if anyone here is interested, but I listed a Scotty Cameron on my local Marketplace for a couple weeks and haven't had any bites. Trying to avoid Ebay. $200 plus shipping. Includes headcover. Mods, delete if not allowed. Spoiler
This is not gonna work. Daly is so easily athletic and Jonah Hill can't tie his shoe laces smoothly. Jonah "throwing" a first pitch.
Yeah. Shit drive put him in the tall grass in front of the tee. Tried to play out of the long stuff and the ball came out almost sideways.
I get hit onto a lot, like we’ll be on the green and a ball will land 15 yards short and I don’t know it they hit a great shot or just left it short so you can’t get angry about it. Last time I legitimately got hit into we finished out the hole and I drove back to tell the group behind us they had hit into us and help them find their ball(they had hit into backyards and gone OB). It was a somewhat blind area where we were hitting from so I wasn’t upset, but the group behind of should have known better, but from their response of we tried to wait it was clear they did it somewhat knowingly. I generally won’t fuck with someone’s ball the first time it happens giving them the benefit of the doubt. Spoiler I’ve hit into groups unintentionally a couple of times. Like I’m hitting 3wood and I get 260+ off the tee with it, luckily the time I’m thinking about the two groups were sitting at about 240/250 on either sides of the fairway and I split them. But generally it’s just time where I hit absolute hero shots like driving par 4’s. Or when I think I’m safe to hit and then after hitting a cart will drive into focus. Happened Tuesday when I hit six iron 224 and then a cart popped up at about 180ish from behind a small hill. Luckily I was left in the fairway and they were right on the cart path. Spoiler One time I was playing a course with a somewhat blind tee shot. Giant mound in the middle of the hole that really you just bomb it over the mound and it sets you up for a nice easy wedge into the green, with either a short rough or fairway leave depending on if you draw or fade it. Pro shop told me I didn’t have anyone in front of my and I was playing solo. It’s like the 4th hole. I bomb it over the hill and all of a sudden a cart comes flying out from behind the hill with some 50’s/60’s guy cussing me out because I almost hit him and his buddy in the head. Wanted to throw down and I explained I was told I was alone on the course and how was I supposed to know they were there. Guy continued to be a dick and the twosome took forever on the green. So the next hole was super short par three so when they took off for the green I just jumped to the next hole. They then tried to hit into me. Fun times.
My grandparents used to belong to and live on a course and their backyard was popular. Former President Clinton wandered into their backyard(along with SS) looking for his ball.
Real talk I might holler at you in a week or two if you’ve still got it. It’s not a putter for a short king is it?
Not even that cool of a course. Golf club of Amelia island. It’s a ritz Carlton course now I guess. Moms parents were LCC members and then later golf club of Amelia island. Dads parents were OCC members and now belong to Kissing Camels/Garden of the gods in Colorado Springs.
I was waiting for a group to clear on 18 a couple years back. They walk off, get in their carts and start to drive away. I go throw my routine and hit my shot. I thinned the shit out of it and sailed it over the green. Apparently one of the two carts had stopped and was sitting still on the path. I smoked the guy. Turned out to be a kid that goes to my school. Got him in the thigh.
Friend of mine is a long hitter and smoked a stinger off tee through the cart, bounced off the cup holder and hit our buddy in the throat. He was inches from knocking him out with a liner to back of the skull. Same guy hit a lady at Chastain and broke a window at Bradshaw Farm here in Atl. He's somehow a legit 5 hcp
Was playing in a staff golf tournament for my school. One of the guys didn't play much, had a few drinks, and hit driver on a par 3. Hit a screamer that caught a new teacher right in the balls. The guy who hit driver made the new kid go in the bathroom and show him how bad the swelling was. Needless to say, that teacher didn't come back the next year. And that wasn't even the craziest thing at that tournament. PE teacher stripped to his tighty whities and drove his truck onto the course.
One of my favorite golf stories with my dad, we were playing what I consider my forever home course, Alto Lakes CC near Ruidoso NM, and on 18, you have to walk back probably 30 yards from the cart path back to the tees. My mom stayed back at the cart as my dad and I walked back to the tee (you see what’s coming…). I don’t remember if he hit first or second, but he hit a ball that somehow screamed underneath the cart where my mom was. She was not happy, to say the least. Never sat there again while he was teeing off.
hilarious given Brooks's whole bravado about how he scares the other players at majors and all the other shit and now he gets to go toe-to-toe with Peter Uihlein with 40K people watching
It was my second home growing up. My granddad has a condo up there and we’d go up for weeks at a time during the summer.
This kind of explains why Brooks took the cash.. t's been before LIV, when I blew my knee out and my foot was pointed that way, almost backwards and sideways,” Koepka said. “Credit to Dr. [Neal] ElAttrache; throw his name out there. I mean, eventually I'm going to have to have a knee replacement in a few years, but I wasn't sure whether I could even move the same way and if I want to play if I could move the way I wanted. I'm fortunate [to] be in the spot that I'm in right now.”
I had a discussion with my buddy on hole-in-ones. He said he'd still consider it a hole in one even if he took a couple mulligans to get it. I said it would be cool, but I wouldn't consider it a hole-in-one. He will also hit multiple balls and play the best one; I'll hit multiple but always play my first, no matter how bad it is, as long as it's in play.
