both were so deserving. really need two separate awards for pitchers and catchers but love it for money
there is no way we go into the season with lando starting at shortstop. they’ve already said they’re running a top 5 payroll and these so called “reporters” are saying we’re gonna cheap out of a title window fake af news
I don’t think “cheap out” is a fair way to categorize it necessarily. 100% agree that Arcia/Grissom should not be the everyday for the sake of saving some money, but I think the reasoning of not wanting to sign a $30M+ AAV shortstop long-term to save flexibility for guys like Wright, Contreras, and the resigns of Ronnie and Oz are valid. We can and should run a top-5 payroll, but they won’t give AA a blank check. So much will depend on just what Dansby is willing to sign for.
ronnie is under contract for another what 6 or 7 years? re-signing him shouldn’t be a remote consideration for the budget
6; contract runs through ‘28 if both options are exercised, and that’s my bad, because I thought it was through ‘27. If the big 3 SS guys are willing to do 5-6 year deals like Story and Biaz instead of the monster 10-12 ones, we’ve got a stew going.
Aren’t most if not all of the recent extensions mostly back loaded? If so, now would be the time to go get a big FA, either at SS, LF/DH, or SP. Also, throwing an extra $20M at Charlie while trying to stay under the CBT limit is fucking bananas
hard to the point that it’s impossible to see that deal and believe the chatter that we aren’t gonna spend big
Yes, our deals pay the players more in the later years. The problem is the CBT is based on AAV of contracts. We can’t even sign Dansby without reaching the first level. It’s a huge mess if we really aren’t willing to pay the CBT like DOB is saying.
no idea what his actual spray chart looks like and its pure nostalgia but with the shift gone, seems like a no brainer
Some moves are starting to happen. Don’t suspect any of the big SS to sign any time soon, though. Guess we’ll see
Jason Heyward used words to win the 2016 World Series. Incredibly hard to do. Very difficult to quantify.
let's schedule a teams meeting first thing tomorrow morning to figure out a D.E.N.N.I.S. system for our new pitcher
