Come in here to see what everybody is talking about on game week and see the conversation is about a guy I went to high school with doing coke. This board is wild. Anyways fuck you guys and can’t wait for Caleb to seal his heisman against you.
Sorry. I don’t mean the fuck you part. Rivalry week gets me all antsy in the pantsy. I only mean fuck you towards UCLA and Oregon fans.
Estime, Diggs, Alt, and Fisher are going to whip your defense so bad their momma's are going to be too embarrassed to help them.
I just want a taste of that sweet sweet arrogance that came with being a fan during the carrol years. Helton made it really hard to be a cocky douche like we are meant to be.
Watching that smug prick chew the fuck out of his gum on the sidelines bangs differently when he brings your team home their first ever Lombardi.
yeah, there are 2 types of unlikeable coaches You have the Brian Kelly category that is actually quite slim. Here the coach is even quite unlikeable for his own fanbase but they cope with it because of the results. Billy B is another example here. But most are the Carrol category of coaches who are awesome to have on your side, but just drive hate in opposing teams. My beloved saints had one of those in Sean Payton, who was petty, pedantic, arrogant and smug but damn he was so fun to have as your coach.
Now that you’re going to the B1G is your school going to have the stones to play a November game in SB or are all the cold weather schools going to have to travel out west to?
If they hold on to this class, am I wrong for thinking this WR corp isn’t bad with a competent QB Thomas Colzie Styles Merriweather Greathouse James Flores Edwards (counting him as a slot guy) They’ll add at least one more and hopefully a couple transfers for depth, and of course a tiny white walk on who will become the top target, but it isn’t as bad as we thought. Thomas stepping up and Colzie starting to emerge are good signs.
Stuckey seems like a steal. Probably not next year but it’s going to get difficult hanging onto some of these younger coaches.
Given the lack of production and Styles not being able to catch the football lately, there’s still some serious unknowns in that group - particularly in regards to big play ability. But the potential is certainly there.
Running around open and getting one target a game would take me out mentally. I think he’s still got a chance but I won’t put much on this year with this a spud (too small to call a potato) on the field.
I’ve been here, just awkwardly standing in the corner not posting most of the time. Helton years were soul crushing. That dumbass look on his face on the sideline will haunt me forever. I was at every home game from 92-2001 so I know about cheering for shit teams and not being a bandwagon fan.
We are just messing with you. Nice to have this rivalry be somewhat real again. Classic game Saturday of who can slow down the other teams strength - first team to punt loses kinda game
For the majority of my USC friends (and I have plenty unfortunately), I had to tell them who Lincoln Riley even was this weekend last year and they didn't even watch ND/USC. Now they're talking a ton of shit about how WE'RE BACK BABY and how far ND's program has fallen. That's the most annoying thing to me in all this
Here is a comparison to Kelly’s best ever class on paper so far… TOP 100 RECRUITS 2013: 4 2023: 5 TOP 150 RECRUITS 2013: 6 2023: 11 FOUR-STARS 2013: 17 2023: 20 THREE-STARS 2013: 4 2023: 3
by far the most annoying thing to me is that USC's season is entirely the product of the transfer portal. I don't begrudge them for doing it, ND should have done the same, but what USC did is exactly what I don't want the sport to become and I'm going to lose interest real quick if this is how its going to be.
Maybe I’m dense but I still think the whole nil bubble will burst. When you are going to have teams fall apart because the 3rd string qb is making 10x a starting wr and then that qb never plays etc etc etc. people aren’t going to want to put so much money in. I could see the going rates come down to something much much more reasonable across the board and then it won’t matter so much
A&M imploding this year is great for the future of NIL, it took no time for the "buy a team" experiment to fail in a massive way, that should slow the whole thing down.
I don't have a problem with NIL (well I do, but it's really more of a problem with ND). It's the fact that players can transfer and play right away now. Obviously NIL money plays into that, but teams shouldn't be able to just snap their fingers and overhaul a roster in a month.
It’s still going to primarily be about finding that right coach that can put all the pieces together properly, just like college football has always been. The ingredients to get there have just changed a little bit.
Sure. But it should be harder to put all the pieces together than it was for Lincoln Riley this year.
Granted, I may be eating these words after Saturday night. But *has* he put all the pieces together yet? I think USC would get boat-raced by Georgia. Though I do get your point about being able to turn around a program so quickly.
Also when nd starts taking transfers at a higher level (which I think is almost assuredly happening - they are passing on a vyper this class to hit the portal which means they think they can find someone of quality to get in)
lincoln riley doesn't believe in special teams coaches, so he's probably not put that piece together yet. give him time, he's still new at this.
Or defense. This USC team is exactly what his OU teams were. I get the point about being able to get to that level so quickly, but unless he makes philosophical changes vs his tenure at OU, his teams are still going to have a ceiling.
