I’ve decided not to watch that video. Fun story, I was a freshmen in college when the Rodney King footage was released. I made a pact after those dudes walked to never watch footage of police attacks from that point on and thirty years later I have held true.
Yeah I can't do it. Obviously it doesn't matter one bit I haven't seen anything on how this encounter began. I know there isn't video, but I mean did one cop call backup or did they just target this guy for some reason? I thought I read he was walking or skateboarding? Just don't understand how/why 5 cops showed up for this lynching.
If felt that this will end up being retaliation for something that will come out. These guys decided to kill him because they thought their badges would protect them. They are learning that is still a whites only privilege.
the same ppl that want to discuss a Forest in south Dekalb county will be oddly silent on this suburban Memphis execution
Police forces in the United States make neighborhoods less safe, not more. I do not understand a single argument in favor of police departments as currently understood and constituted. Police forces need a complete tear down and anything less than that will continue the victimization of minority populations. Fuck this shithole country.
I’m not going to watch the video, but rumors around Memphis are he was fucking one of the officers wife and it was planned.
it’s plainclothes gang unit marauding in unmarked units with a bunch of gangsters with badges in them jumping out on whoever they want and fucking with them
I would probably avoid believing any rumors right now that are giving an excuse to the cops and shining the victim in a negative light
Hard to tell on the initial stop but seemed to be 3-4. He was calm as could be and they escalated for no reason. They sprayed and tazed him so he took off running.
should changed this from punisher symbols to weekly viewings of training day number can stay the same
If you think that that rumor gives the cops an excuse that says a lot about you. It would up the charge to first degree instantly if true.
I’m not saying I personally would see it that way. But it would absolutely be something the right would use to try and justify their actions
Any funds to police need to be tied to body cameras that cannot be turned off and off site storage. Any police crimes need to be federal and out of local jurisdictions to handle. Not sure how to do it but figure it the fuck out.
Anyone that argues sleeping with a man’s wife gives him the right to kill you is dangerously unhinged, needs professional help, and should not be taken seriously.
A lot of people keep saying that’s the rumor here, but I haven’t seen anything to substantiate that other than people on Facebook saying “he must have been sleeping with one of their wives” and people running with it.
What is more comforting to the cop apologist: this is a situation that went about 20% further than most times or they had a personal vendetta and that’s why they beat the shit out of him
Also here are my suggestions/demands: Federal funding for mandatory bodycams, HARDWIRED to the officer. Always on, no off. Automatic uploads of all bodycam videos to unaffiliated 3rd-party servers. Eliminate internal investigations totally. External neutral parties, not good ol' boys from the next county over.
on the subject of how to fix american policing: https://seanburns-democracy.medium.com/militarize-the-police-a-thought-experiment-4f65269b764f This is a very interesting thought experiment done by a historian and political scientist who specializes in civilian-military relationships in developing nations (i.e. why some countries keep falling into military dictatorships). the tl;dr is you make police like the military: no union, answerable to an elected civilian leadership, a separate professional officer class that doesn't fraternize with enlisted rank and file cops, standardizing all police work by having a single police entity per state. American policing is atrocious, and not just because of the insane violence. They solve crimes at a lower rate today than they did in the 1970s despite every citizen carrying an HD camera in their pocket and DNA evidence being incredibly easy to obtain.
it should be first degree murder anyway since they charged them with kidnapping. Death resulting from a qualifying felony = felony murder rule.
Time and time again, we've seen these special task force units operating at free will/kill squads for cities across the country. Yet politicians, police chiefs, and the media always act shocked and pull the "we have a few bad apples among our ranks" line. I hate Joe Rogan. But I'm reminded of his interview with Michael Woods whenever law enforcement kill teams are in the news.
Agreed but there has to be something. Just continuously money to hit men isn’t working. This has to hit on the federal level the way Civil Rights did. The unifying point in Civil Rights was Mississippi. Maybe five black cops beating a black man to death does it here. I know it won’t, but I just hate living in a world where this happens every fucking time. Hopefully this is where people can take the defund argument away from being a race issue to a humanity issue, but this is also the country where 30 toddlers were killed and nothing changed.
