If they nail the ending this goes into the top 3 at HBO with the Wire and the first rewatch of The Wire. Started slow tonight but several great scenes, Shiv and Tom at the end was amazing.

https://www.slashfilm.com/1239102/s...ible-rich-people-but-nan-pierce-is-the-worst/ The same hypocrisy holds true for Nan's business. She's a shrewd negotiator, as we see in the premiere, but she also upholds an illusion of home-grown values that contrasts with the Roy family's disarray — and her own grotesque wealth. When she gets down to brass tacks with Logan (Brian Cox) in season 2, she claims that the Berlin Wall wouldn't have come down without the help of Pierce journalists. "Money is a social construct, whereas virtue and integrity, these things actually exist," she says in another scene, to which Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) jokingly responds that he paid for some ham at the grocery store with his concern about the environment. Eventually, Nan pulls out of the deal in light of the Waystar Royco cover-up, but she's back at the bargaining table in season 4, waving away Shiv's mentions of virtue in favor of coded talk about how to get her the best deal. Everyone in "Succession" is self-important and pretentious and out of touch, so why is Nan's brand of ostentatiousness so much more perfectly irksome than anyone else's? In part, it's thanks to Cherry's excellent performance, which is shot through with a layer of fake humility that's as slyly funny as it is maddening. In the new season, Nan returns more performatively distraught over the very existence of money than ever. After joking that the people in charge of upkeep on her new home "shred hundred dollar notes for fertilizer," Nan offers the Roy siblings high-end wine. "They may as well be jars of jam to me, but the connoisseurs seem to like them," Nan says. With each line, she aims to separate herself from the wealthy, attempting to cultivate an everywoman air that's outright hilarious when keeping in mind the ten billion dollar deal on the table.
The fact that this show can make essentially the same joke between Greg and Tom numerous times and it be hilariously funny every time shows how good the writers room is. Such an amazing show and a great season premiere.
I assume the goal was to always get us to the point of realizing the baby jokester of the family was actually the only one enough to really handle the business side. Kept giving us little bites that maybe shiv or Kendall could do it but they don't got it.
They both "got it" but their inner demons prevent them being able to execute. Kendall is obviously a drug attic who is desperate to prove that he doesn't need anyone and that his own inner genius is being ignored by the world. Shiv is a narcissist (they all are) who wants to fuck over everyone she thinks has wronged her even if it means she is causing her own destruction. How else do you explain that the night after buying Nan's company she shows up at home for the first time in months to twist the knife on Tom. She just wants to watch the world burn. Roman is the immature one, but he's clearly right now the only one who is acting with a clear head.
Watching season 1 with the wife. They really made Marcia up to be this mysterious woman warning Shiv about playgrounds and such, and then she just gets shoved to the side.
Karaoke bar scene was all time. I really think Connor is such an underrated character. I never know whether to laugh at him or pity him. I’m still a little confused about what caused Kendall to change his mind after talking to Matsson. Shiv’s motivation seems straightforward but Kendall seemed to instantly pivot after that call, and I couldn’t pick up why.
Haven't finished the episode yet but Tom sending Greg to tell what's her name she's not good enough for TV
I see it as Kendall just wanting to tank the deal so he has to do it. Kendall still sees this as a test of wills between himself and Logan imo and probably sees tanking a deal as a way to still be in charge of Royco one day
If Roman and Gerry don’t hookup I’m going to be so mad. It’s like 75% of the reason why I watch this stupid show
A lot of y’all are forgetting that Kendall is maybe the worst business person in the history of business
Sorry, I just can't seem to tear my eyes away from the bald man talking about NATO. I... have a boner
Also, Con's monolouge ranks up there with the other three kids' mom saying Logan hurts the people that he loves to see if they will come back to hm as the most important lines uttered on this show.
