I saw that he has two offers so far without the film. Coastal Carolina (who were probably sold on the haircut alone) and Miami, Ohio.
too lazy to look, but I’m assuming CU was his lone P5 offer, like a majority of the guys who hit the portal.
The five players The Athletic spoke with relayed one consistent reality for players Sanders inherited: He spent little to no time coaching or speaking with them. “I felt like he was more of a motivational speaker. He gives good advice, but he didn’t really talk to me once,” Courtney said. “I never really got to experience his coaching.” Added one player who is transferring and asked not to be identified so that he wouldn’t have trouble finding a new school: “Wherever the camera’s at, that’s where Deion is.” That sounds like Deion Sanders
I dont care about Colorado or Iowa , that doesn't mean I can't find joy when things are going terribly for them.
Colorado fans: “He may be a terrible coach, but that’s nothing new. It can’t get worse. It’s nice to see some optimism and investment in the program.” Nebraska fans: “How delusional are you?!?!”
What do you propose they do about it? And, that’s kind of part of the whole cautious optimism thing. It literally can’t get worse.
so what happens when they win 1-2 games again this year? Turn the whole roster over? Could get a lot worse when the next coach takes over with only 50 kids on scholarship.
It really couldn’t get worse. They didn’t have 50 kids worthy of power 5 scholarships when he came in. If done correctly, use of the portal can speed up a turnaround. Colorado was in the unique position to be able to have little risk for high reward. Their fans are perfectly reasonable to be optimistic. None in here have denied that it may end up in them staying in the same spot.
Since 2006, CU has had one winning season, been to 3 bowl games (0-3), and finished last in their division like 10 times. Colorado has been the worst P5 football team for the last 15 years, let alone last year.
Think anyone can see how getting rid of 50 kids without replacements already in place is a dangerous game. Also confused why anyone is surprised that Nebraska fans would be shitting on Colorado when given a chance and vice versa. It’s a hated rival.
We’re at about 45 transfers out. Total scholarships close around 65-70 with more commitments coming. Of the transfers out, 3 of them have gone to P5 schools and 1 is a kicker. MLC, Tyson, Reed and maybe Sami will go P5, but doubtful on the others. It was a G5 roster. It basically comes down to whether we think Deion can find 85 players that make a better team than what we had.
I love how appalled people are at Deion being a piece of shit as if most college coaches aren't also pieces of shit, just better at being tactful about it.
ha jokes on you, you missed the other 7 fumbles in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Pry could’ve avoided that if we did a 7 on 7 touch scrimmage.
I feel like I’m talking to five year olds. Everyone, everyone agrees that the whole thing is a risk. What y’all seem to be missing is that they’re in a unique position to take a risk because they’re not giving up anything.
Well, I don't know if that's entirely accurate. On the field? Sure. Deion's biggest risk to me has always been what may happen off the field.
and you fail to understand that things could get worse when you are carrying a light roster. Also could get worse when those players that got cut loose start talking badly about the whole process. Things could always get worse.
The Deion being in love with Deion aspect is nothing new. Pretty sure the only time he hasn’t been on camera since he started coaching is when he’s sleeping or shitting. But I don’t really see an issue with not coaching the kids you plan to push into the portal. CFB is business for everyone. Even the kids complaining about not getting their film had tweets thanking the Buffs collective for NIL money. If your failing company gets bought out, and the new owners plan on bringing in their model and employees, then why would they waste time training you? Yes, it’s a bad look. But not surprising at all that Deion wouldn’t want to invest in guys he can’t take credit for. Part of the deal when he was hired.
They had a lead for 32 minutes of the season last year. Half of that was in one game. “Worse” is threading a fucking needle.
When you have just terrible programs like #Colorado Buffaloes or #Miami Redhawks , you have to do things differently
the real entertainment starts once deion loses interest in this hobby I'd put it at 2.5 years after his kid is out of eligibility
that’s 4+ years from now. Where do I sign? this is either going to work or be a spectacular dumpster fire. If he’s here at that point, it might actually be working.
I hope it works. College football will be better for it if Colorado is good. CU is the villain of my childhood and maybe some deep seated hatred re-emerging would help the apathy towards college football that Nebraska has instilled in me over the past 20 years.
The hate + new coaches has the energy going. The secondary on the tickets this year is fuckin stupid. Cheapest tickets on Seatgeek are like $350/per. That's a lot of dough for two teams that have sucked giant assholes for 2 decades.
I, for one, think the gamble on Prime was something you have to take if you’re Colorado given recent/past results. Also, my feelings as a battered Husk still have me worried they will beat the shit out of us.
Let's not just gloss over the fact that those recent shit results were under Karl Dorrell That was an unbelievably bad hire...
That's bullshit. No, not nearly everyone. Big chunk of my family are big CU diehards, I get their takes as informed by local sports media, and there's a fair element of hard, unhedged cult buy in with coach prime. That's why I asked a while back if our CU posters had any sort of readonable doubt about this. Thankfully, their sanity seems to be in tact. But no, not everyone understands there's a risk. Some people honestly believe beyond any shred of doubt that Sanders has a fail-proof, 4D chess plan, and a solid name lined up behind every departure. That's not all bad. It'll be good to have some literal and figurative piss back in this codependent fan relationship.
Seriously? We made fun of their dead quarterback in the early 90s. The same guy that had impregnated their coach's daughter.
There's a full version of NU-CU from like 1992 on Youtube at Memorial and in the background after Calvin Jones scored a td you can see a sign in the stands that says "THIS ONE'S FOR SAL."
