great more targeted advertising!!! Jk jk - love the take, feel it. They got shit on basketball and football is going to suck forever…unpopular opinion….Schiano ain’t the guy?
I think it’s pretty clear. The hope is that the football side is cleaned up enough for someone competent to come in and actually be decent.
Read today that Dylan’s AAU team (NY Rens) have a ton of Duke connections, including Chris Duhan who’s an assistant coach and Coach K’s grandson who’s somehow involved with the team. Granted, the article was from last cycle so they may have moved on but I’m not going to breathe a sigh of relief till he puts pen to paper.
Dylan Harper gave On3 an interview today, some highlights… Harper talks Rutgers and Duke On night one of the EYBL session, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell were front and center to watch the five-star. Rutgers: “It’s awesome to see him. He’s always supported me since I was younger. You know, Ron (Dylan’s brother Ron Harper Jr. (https://www.nba.com/player/1631199/ron-harper-jr)) went there, so he’s always had my back. I know there is a lot of hype there because Ron went there, but they are recruiting me for me. I trust them; they tell me how I can improve and what I’m doing on the court. On his relationship with Ace Bailey Dylan Harper (https://www.on3.com/db/dylan-harper-150969/) and Ace Bailey (https://www.on3.com/db/ace-bailey-150396/) have formed a relationship. They were around each other a lot at the USA Basketball Junior National Team Minicamp in April. Harper flew down to play in an April event to play with Bailey’s AOT travel team. “Man, he’s texting me every day. Calling me trying to get me to come,” Harper said. “It’s always something with him about me going to Rutgers with him. He’s just a great player runs the floor. I went down to Atlanta to play with him. We play well together. That’s really my guy.” In his words “I want to go somewhere that will take care of me but also loves the entire team,” Harper said. “Ultimately, I want to have the ball in my hands. I don’t want to sound selfish, but if I go to any school and have the ball in my hands, I think we can do something special. “Wherever I go, I ultimately want to win there. I want to win every time I step on the floor. But ultimately, my goal is the NBA to get to the highest level. So I want to go play for a coach in a program that will help develop me to be ready to play at the highest level.”
From Travis Graf (national basketball analyst, very connected): “Talked to a source close to Mgbako earlier today. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s June before he makes his decision. Was told that he’s most likely to decide after his graduation, and that’s June 3. Still hearing a lot of Louisville, St. John’s, and Rutgers buzz off and on, as well as potential for pro routes, but was told over 30 schools have been trying to get in the mix.
he’s not really reporting anything new there. Rutgers reached out to Kante after UM released him from his LOI. They finished 2nd for his recruitment the first time around. There’s some other big players involved and I don’t think it’ll be easy to land him, but they’re in the running for sure
So Ndongo decommits, Mgbako visiting 4 schools but no RU, and Cliff going pro .. Anything good happening for RU BB today?
Cam in the portal because of NIL. I might be done with college sports boys (and yes I'm aware the only reason we have Ace committed is because of NIL). This shit is beyond stupid.
Thank God Geo told us it was going to be great. Hope he sold a lot of sparkly jerseys with his silhouette on them.
Somebody tell this guy they were never in the driver's seat, and the only thing strange about Dylan's recruitment was him thinking Duke was ever in that position.
Vote for me if you’re on rivals https://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/t...-podcaster-versus-the-one-time-poster.262748/
Check the Elon thread if you don’t have a Bluski invite (and want one). They’re specifically recruiting local sports reporters.
I found the Eagles thread. I’m going to the Newcastle game there next week (and to the one at Red Bull stadium but I know how to get there.)
Begrudgingly, must admit that’s something Philly got right. Ample parking, xfinity center has a ton of bars, just have to watch out for the krank zombies and dudes drunk beyond comprehension
The irony of a Northwestern alum writing an article critizing our admission into the Big Ten is just too sweet. I don't mind when the big guys dog us, but anytime someone associated with Northwestern, Purdue, etc. says something, I just laugh.
Kevin Bannon is mild frat boy nonsense. A NJ export is killed every year in mid-west frat boy nonsense. Sex Pest stuff runs deeper.
wtf is wrong with our fanbase? https://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/threads/is-jai-patel-the-best-kicker-to-ever-play-at-ru.265518/
Quick hit thoughts from me after the game: 1) Monangai is him. Jalen Berger who? We got the better DBP back. 2) I wish some of our RB talent was at WR. We're legitimately going to be 5 deep when Young is back 3) Refs were beyond horrible 4) How stupid is Temple leaving Warner in when you're down 29 points with 2 minutes left in the 4th? What happens if he gets hit in the knee, tears his ACL, and is out for the year? Congrats for stat padding against our third string, I guess. Not really sure what they were trying to accomplish with that other than potentially making the final score not look as bad for the papers tomorrow 5) I like JaQuae Jackson 6) Defense is good, but we still give up way too many big passing plays in the middle of the field. I was expecting the DL to get a lot more pressure against a young non-power conference OL 7) I'm going to hope that we're holding back a lot of the playbook. Our RPO is missing the "O" part right now. Part of me wants to believe its Greg keeping things close to the vest while playing inferior opponents, but the other part of me also knows that we're Rutgers and offenses just don't exist here
I just read the Dylan Harper thread on rivals and legitimately think I lost about 86% of my brain cells. I really cannot comprehend the stupidity of some of these people. I haven't posted on that board in over a decade at this point, but I'm tempted to make a new account to call these people out on their lunacy. There is no possible scenario in which getting Dylan is a bad thing. Only our fans can turn getting the #2 and #3 players in the country into a negative. Please make it stop.
