They moved to a new location, haven't tried them since. It's a brand new building so possible upgrade. I like Publick House and Thirsty Fellow for regular old fashioned wings. I like Transmission Arcade for smoked wings; they have to be some of the best in the state
Nah, we went to a competition in North Charleston at some convention center, and the dads went out and I remember those being good. They’re not gourmet or anything like Home Team (wish their white sauce wasn’t so sweet), but they’re not wing stop we were also drinking so maybe that clouded my judgement
Thanks guys. Sounds like it will be holy city wings. Have a family member graduating from the Citadel and heading down tomorrow. She lives near Ashley Phosphate and the Dorchester intersection. I’m not trying to go downtown on a Saturday afternoon. Been there, done that Edit: FUCK. Didn’t realize the Citadel is downtown anyways
Home Team is about 1.5 miles from the Citadel. Both are little further up on the peninsula, making it a little easier to get to. Not saying it won’t be packed, just letting you know.
Speaking of Charleston wings - True Blue in Mt. Pleasant has phenomenal wings. Doesn’t fit the area you were looking for but for future reference.
I would say large but not full on chicken leg size. Nigel’s are breaded (which I usually hate) but they are so good.
Summerville had a place last time I was there (2015?) that was a gourmet hotdog place. Simply Franks maybe? I heard they closed though.
The wings, pork chops, fried chicken, chicken and biscuits, and ravioli are all good. They are one of my favorite meals around lately.
You in Tanner? If so, I bet you’ve seen me in Lowe’s Foods before. Something’s wrong if I’m not in that store daily.
I'm in Tanner as well, in the Estuary. I too am in Lowe's alot of days. Were you the guy tapping his feet under the stall last week when I walked in?
Nigel's is amazing. Best chicken wings I've ever had. There is nothing there that I've had that I didn't like. It's all great food.
Maybe? I’m in Scenic Point. Just got home from Lowe’s. Why didn’t you wooooo back when I woooed you last week?
I may have the option to relocate to Charleston soon, which will be a welcome reprieve from my last few years in Detroit. Looking for input on locations to consider living. My office will be about 3 miles south of the airport, right off of 526 and next to the Ashley river. I’m 30, single, hoping to be in an area where I can meet people in the same boat. My budget is something around $1700/m, planning on renting for a year. West Ashley, park circle, and the area between Charleston and North Charleston are what I’ve heard and read so far. TIA and hopefully a beer on me if I can make it work to all.
Park Circle would be my choice. The Factory apartments are within walking distance to the bars and restaurants. A lot of people in that same age group over here. Probably the most convenient to your office and gives you a few options on the commute if 526 is backed up.
well, I didnt know there was a thread for this place headed to charleston tomorrow for a night or two mostly I just wanna go to Rodney Scotts, what else is there we should do? also, havent booked a room yet, where should we stay? was looking at Mt Pleasant or Daniel Island maybe, or over by the airport, 'downtown' looked expensive for a hotel but not out of the question if yall convince me its actually worth staying down there. Just looking i wasnt sure much was actually going on down there
If you are going to Charleston, you gotta stay downtown. Rodney Scott is great. Get the ribs too. Perfect for lunch. Co-op on Sullivans for Frose for your lady then walk on the beach.
Mt P would be the most convenient of the 2 if you want the beach and Rodney Scotts. You can easily get to IOP or Sullivans and downtown. Daniel Island you have to deal with 526 which sucks during rush hours. Downtown is worth the splurge to me to enjoy walking to a few different places and just wondering around. You would still have to drive or Uber to the beach and probably Rodney Scott’s.
Not sure your budget, needs, or your thoughts on Airbnbs, but I just perused Airbnb and saw this place. I have no affiliation with it. It’s either in the Hampton Park Terrace neighborhood or North Central neighborhood on the peninsula based on the pic (Rutledge Ave splits the two) and is walkable to Rodney Scott’s. It’s about 20 minutes to Sullivan’s and about 30 minutes to Folly. There’s also some fun neighborhood bars nearby. And it’s like a 10-15 minute Uber to basically anywhere on the peninsula. Here’s the link if you’re interested. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/39793918?adults=2&location=Charleston, SC&check_in=2023-05-24&check_out=2023-05-26&source_impression_id=p3_1684872650_WwBf/mz6yzNcxAjq Green circle is Rodney Scott’s.
Coming in hot Friday and staying through Monday. Coming solo. Is there a FAQ post for this thread before I start asking the same questions that have probably already been asked a million times? Want to go to the beach - Sullivans has been recommended to me, check out cool breweries/cocktail bars, and eat some good food. Trying to keep it a somewhat cheaper trip, so don't have a need to go to high-end places. Staying downtown at the Notso Hostel and will have my car if that helps.
Looks like a pretty good concert at the Windjammer on Isle of Palms tomorrow (next beach down from Sullivan's Island). Do you like alt country type of sounds? (Futurebirds) Edit: Looks like it's sold out. Now I'm just mad I didn't realize Futurebirds was playing in Charleston.
Lunch at Rodney's and a picture with him as a bonus, downtown stuff all afternoon, evening walk and dinner at co-op today Good call
Ill be in Charleston for a few hours next Friday. Recommendations for a good lunch spot for the wife and I?
Spending two nights in this city next Tuesday/Wednesday May I please have good, easy/casual food recs?
Lewis BBQ and Edmund’s Oast outside are casual picks for me when I’m in town. I always like Home Team BBQ also. More of a restaurant than Lewis. Taco Boy?
it’s no different than any good fried seafood type places along the coast. It’s not soggy nasty fried. It’s definitely not a must experience. I’d go to Leon’s 100x over hymans
yea I think I'll hit that for lunch. Is there a must try brunch spot in town? May do two brunches two lunches and 1-2 dinners.
reservations can be a bitch but FIG last time I was there was great, probably best meal I've had there in charleston in many years
