I think I come down in it feels a tiny bit sloppy because of how drastically she got hosed the night before but that ultimately Shiv could not let Ken win (both on a he’s not capable level and a she thinks it should be her level) and she felt strongly enough about that that she allowed the two guys who betrayed her win.

I think that tracks, and completes the arc for all three siblings.

Shiv has always been the outsider of the three in the business side of things, but she always wanted to be in and has resented Ken for it. She couldn’t stand to let him have it. IMO it was not anything business savvy or a scheme. She just hates her brother and that she couldn’t get something so she fucked it.

it's probably also worth noting that *maybe* if he let her have her minute, she would've been fine

but instead he went and proved her feeling correct

I think the better question is does Shiv vote the sale through if the CEO is a complete outsider and not Tom?

I think she saw Tom being CEO as a way of winning in a small way that an outsider wouldn’t have given her. To some degree, I wonder if Matsson chose Tom thinking Shiv would still vote for him.

Yeah it was perfect he totally mishandled the situation which is exactly what Kendall does. I think the major gripes will come from it being an ending that people weren’t really rooting for and that shiv who a lot of people really hate was the key switch.

Lol no. She had power over Tom because of who her dad was and the wealth/lifestyle she unlocked. Daddy is dead, his company sold, and Tom sits the pretend throne while Mattson calls the shots. Shiv has no (business) power over Tom.

If Shiv wanted to keep influence at the company she should have voted Kendall.

Disagree, I think this ignores all of the character development Tom (and some Shiv) went through.

They’re on much more equal footing. Tom isn’t the naive servile Midwesterner anymore. Shiv doesn’t have any schemes in which Tom is a pawn or obstacle; she crowned him king and is hitching up her wagon.

Early in the episode she asks Tom if he wanted to get back together and he said he didn't know and by the end she was back in power and they showed it by her kind of half holding his hand when he extended it in the car. Maybe it isn't relationship dominance anymore but she still will always be able to manipulate him.

Definitely. He just made things worse and him lying and saying he didn't kill that kid and them thinking he said it as a move sealed his fate.

Kendall is definitely going to kill himself. It was a theme throughout the show and this time I don't think he has anyone to pull him out of his darkness.

Loved some of the references and the kids acting out who they really were.

    Some thoughts on the finale:

    - satisfying in a dysfunctional sense. Like Logan said, they are not serious people.

    - Tom getting the last laugh on Greg, when he said "I got you", he meant he had Greg's balls in a silk purse for perpetuity.

    - the way Roman played out was great, from his meltdown at the funeral and self-punishment at the hands of the rioters to him grinding his forehead wound into Kendall's shoulder during their very rough embrace creating more self-inflicted damage. This aligns with the medieval cult of priests who would tighten razor wire around their arms and legs to punish themselves into piety (like in the film, The DaVinci Code) and because they believed they deserved the pain. It was self-flagellation, which Roman repeatedly did to himself and his cawk along with the many references to it, so he literally beat himself constantly ...

Imo shiv flipped when once again Kendall proved he didn’t have the tact to be CEO. He was given one chance to explain his vision for why the board should turn down GoJo and he blew it. Called the great deal he secured bull shit and went right to the vote because he thought he had the numbers.

Definitely Ken putting Roman in his place. At that moment I actually thought Ken had finally won and had the balls to do what it took. Then he lost it again, because he’s not a serious person.

I always wrote off Sophie's darker skin as Rava's half Indian genes taking over.

Im fairly certain they discussed Sophie being adopted way early in the show.

I dont think it was covered. Maybe my read is wrong but it just came up when Kendall said he’s the eldest boy. Roman said Shiv had the strongest succession claim because her kid will have the bloodlines. Then echoed how Logan apparently viewed them.

Ones a buy in (adopted) and the other half rava/ half filing cabinet guy. (Sperm donor/cheating)

Came off as one of those open family secrets that no one actually acknowledges. Or maybe I’m reading it all wrong lol

I thought the ending was great. They all self-sabotaged bc they’re all useless and selfish brats. They all of them bring zero to the table and the only reason they had any involvement was because of their father. In less than a season they completely played themselves out of the game without him there to protect them.

My only wish would have been that Roman suffered a greater fall.

Imo Roman had a hell of a fall. When the show started, it seemed like he was perfectly fine floating through life. Throughout the show he deluded himself into having ambitions that were based in merit. He crashed and burned and realized he’s always been a fucking joke. The self awareness kicked in.

I agree with your interpretation of that last scene, just seemed like a big but inconsequential reveal because I don’t remember it ever being discussed in the show.

At 13:20 of this podcast, Armstrong says Sophie is adopted.

I can't recall a mention on the show, but I thought I recalled an interview with Natalie Gold, the actress who plays Rava, mentioning that Rava is half Indian like Natalie is in real life.

One of the main theme of the show is these people, who are soulless ghouls that tear down foundations of our society, will always be ok
