Oh for sure. The only undeserved one was the roughing the passer. It’s the no calls that have been back breaking
That call and the obvious PI on fourth down were some of the biggest impacts to a game made by refs that I can ever remember
But it was a clear hold. I’m fine with correct calls being made. The issue was the literally ignored much more egregious holds all night
It was. However literally the next play by the eagles was even more egregious and nada. It just highlights the one sided penalties
At the end of the day this game kinda didn’t matter standings wise. I’m just glad we continue to see a defense getting better, not worse. Our offensive stats will be bad for this one but we also barely had the ball and the OL was just not functional. Tua made a few incredible plays again just to be able to get the points they did. Penalty took away a nice TD. Overall didn’t lose much faith in the team. Chiefs/Fins still top of AFC and bills can get fucked
Played out a lot like I envisioned (except for the penalty nonsense) considering all the injuries. Team played its ass off all things considered.
Yea. Not really concerned. Lost a TD on a penalty and another because a top 5 player in the league dropped a pass. Just one of those games where you play uphill against everyone including the refs and can’t figure it out and lose a game that was a ton closer than the score.
The 4th down tush push is kinda BS. It's basically making a human bridge so they can push a player along without touching the ground. That being said. I don't think there is anything you could do to change it without ruining the game. And the eagles run it well.
I agree the reffing was bad and benefited Philly. But the Fins lost because the OL got absolutely worked by the Eagles DL. Not really worth stressing about the calls anymore when they weren't the fundamental problem
I mostly agree with you, but lets not act like we had 3 starters OL out and that their DL was getting away with shit all night You would think Jalen Carter was a HOF bound vet with the hands to the face he was getting away with on every bull rush. Cotton’s helmet was coming off and they still wouldn’t call it
Yeah it was bad for sure. I didn't really have a problem with most of the calls on Miami but if you're gonna be tight with one team you can't completely lose the flag for the other
I'll say the same thing to you I said last night. You don't know that because our OL was playing under a different standard than theirs. Our DL was just as dominant and the Eagles adjusted by grabbing guys without penalty. If the hold standard is the same for both teams, Cotton's penalty never happens and the fins get 7 on the first drive instead of 3. Or if the standard is the same, Eagles are sitting in 1st and 20 on half their drives and aren't in a position to tush push on 4 different occasions to extend drives. You can't ever fully determine the impact of officiating in a game like that because it was so bad you don't know where to untangle it and see how it impacted a game. It's not like the Fiesta bowl where you can point to one call and say it changed a game. There were crucial calls all night that all went one way. Don't forget the INT by slay for as bad of a pass as it was was an obvious PI that was uncalled.
don't forget him getting two free shots after the play at Jackson, then flopping to draw the coincidental flags. They weren't going to call Carter at all until jackson retaliated.
I really hope we are significantly healthier for the Chiefs game, because I can see us winning in Germany
Yeah I think if the game was reffed perfectly we still lose, I think Philly was clearly the better team (Primarily because they were healthy and we werent). With that said, us being in the 3rd qtr with 9 penalties and Philly having none is fucking absurd. They could've easily been called for 3 holding calls against Phillips alone. Hell on of hte sacks Phillips was being held and no call. You had the none call on the obvious pass interference, the awful roughing the passer call on Wilkins. These are game changing calls and it should be called out. They fucked up and did a poor job and it should be addressed
I don't know how you can say that when just calling the PI on the mostert pass puts the fins 1st and goal at the 1 instead of a turnover.
The play that changed the game was the Reek drop over the middle. He walks in if he catches an easy ball and it's a different game. Tough place to get a W against an elite team but it is just frustrating because we were close. Hard to win when they dominate the LOS like they did. At some point this front office needs to realize how important OL depth is. We've made major improvements on the line but we have some injury prone folks at key places and veteran depth is a must.
I agree to an extent, but they have 2 quality backups right now. Eichenberg is getting way more shit than he deserves, but he's been servicable. The problem is that Eichenberg is your swing guy interior guy and yesterday you needed three backups to go in and east snaps. Very few teams can do that successfully.
I know I'm the always complaining about the refs guy, but holy shit was that game poorly officiated. the non-calls that keep getting found are so egregious.
They kept talking about how Ricks was having such an amazing game against a great offense Of course no mention of the contact he was getting away with
the only thing I will say is that they let Kohu get away with a tug on Brown on the bomb. The only difference is that Brown made the play anyway and the contact Philly got away with took away completions or caused a turnover.
Tua was good this week, the problem is the defense not getting people off the field. We simply do not generate enough three and outs
