For those who don't know Shoehei Ohtani imagine 6'4 Japanese Babe Ruth (a little hyperbole but not a ton) but doing it at the same time instead of different times in his career and also stealing a fuckton of bases + extra base hits. Guy lead the AL in home runs and also was top 5 in baseball in most pitching statistics for a bunch of last season. Freakshow shit.
you don’t have to explain who the guy who just signed a $700 million contract after winning the MVP twice in the last three years (and who finished second in MVP voting and fourth in Cy Young voting in the third year) is. It’s a bad bit.

I was looking for a subcontractor and came across a cemetery service’s webpage with their slogan: “The last ones to let you down.”
Irrational, no good reason It wasnt a cut and dry situation which is why it went to trial/took so long
I wonder how much TV/movies have fucked with juries. People expect DNA and video evidence and instead get...not that
Returning home from dinner tonight and street parallel to mine was blocked by a car in middle of the road. Pull over obviously and there's a likely dead lady in the middle of the street victim of hit and run. My car is still there but talked to cops then walked home, probably know the lady. There's a witness which is good Good times
We got no direct evidence. This guy is a pretty high ranking member of a gang and just called the shots behind the scenes. He was being charged based on being a party to the crimes. It was a very difficult/technical case. Probably not, but he has 4 other murder cases to get through. The DA has decided to go after street gangs because there has been a war for 10 years. The leaders of the rival gangs are currently locked up and awaiting trial. My guy was part of that.
What’s the best type of money savings/investment account for my kids. They get money as gifts for Christmas/etc but too young to use it. I want it to be able to grow but also have access to it when it’s time.
You could do a 529 account for education costs or simply open an investment account in their name. I went through this a few days ago with Vanguard to make a new 529 for my kid and they had a few different market options for minors.
Already have a 529 set up this is going to be “there money” they can do whatever they want with it as they have gotten it as gifts they just too young to know about money
Most banks will allow for a Minor Savings Account or you could do an UTMA/UGMA gifting account if you wanted to go the route of investments. The Parent controls the account for the minor until the age of majority in your state.
I'd open an investment account somewhere like Schwab and invest in SWVXX or something similar. Super safe mutual fund that invests in treasuries. Grab 5.26% or whatever it's at currently and sit back and do nothing but be able to move it to use if necessary.
Was thinking a fidelity money market account too as I use them for my stuff and can access through one app as the custodian
Yeah I get wanting to keep things in one place. I've used SPAXX or FDRXX for the same purpose on Fidelity.
tons of restrictions on the roth transfer and it is a cumbersome process that probably will take years to move a significant amount of funds, but it is better than nothing.
Better than nothing. I’m looking at my 4yo’s 529 and she has more dollars for college now than I did when I finished hs. Thank you mr free market you provide rational solutions for all
I don't know what it looks like in practice but it's nice to know there's an offramp in the event my kids get scholarships or don't use up all the money or whatever. I can't tell you how many friends didn't do a 529 for their kid because "what if they get a full ride" or "what if they decide not to go to college." Which, bad excuses but at least there's somewhere it can go for the kid's benefit in the event it's unused on school.
