typical disingenuous posting. also take note that the very first *individual* title only came in 2005. I'll simplify this for all you silver spoon boys: VT has: - 0 team national titles - 1 national title appearance ever - 0 weeks ranked #1 in any poll for any amount of time in any sport It is the most tortured P5 program ever and none of you would survive down here considering how you bitch and moan about your own schools. If I lived another sixty years, I'd feel highly confident in saying I wouldn't see a team national title from VT. I feel equally confident none of you can say the same, sans maybe KSU fans.
I'm upset you guys want us to lose our DC and see chaos when we are all busy grieving over the prostate cancer diagnosis for Uncle Juice
I don’t quite understand this. Didn’t Seattle just hire their head coach like a week ago? So how would the 30 day portal be a concern to Seattle? Are they saying that Seattle knew they were going to hire Grubb before they ever hired their head coach? And that an NFL team held off on announcing a coach so that some college players that had never played for said coach wouldn’t transfer?
2 weeks ago. I’m guessing Bama could have simply offered to reduce or waive a buyout for them if they waited to announce the hiring until after the 30 day window. That’s just one very easy to understand situation from both sides that would make sense.
I guess that could happen, but it still seems far fetched. Are contracts legal if they haven’t been approved by the employer? If not then there was nothing to negotiate on Grubb as no new hire at Alabama has had their contracts even reviewed by the board of trustees yet. Also even if Seattle knew Grubb was the OC when they hired their head coach on Jan 31, could any school accept a transfer that would be starting in February?
Grubbs contract has not been approved or even reviewed by the Alabama board of trustees. The board has to approve them before they go in to effect. So would Seattle have to negotiate with anyone other than Grubb and his agent?
Fisch wants to come home to Gainesville and can't have a 100% rebuild at Washington going like 4-8 Spoiler I have no idea if this is true but it is possible and Fisch is a total whore https://www.on3.com/news/jedd-fisch-reflects-on-post-it-notes-to-steve-spurrier-entry-into-coaching/
this is why many assumed he would stay at arizona this coming year (who project to be a good team and were/are perhaps the big 12 favorite) versus the uw salvage job
We were surprised as well especially with what Zona has coming back (figured we'd keep him on ice a year). Only possible scenarios are that he thought the good Zona players like Fifita and Williams would follow him to Washington (especially with any decent NIL and that seems like a major discussion for any coach nowadays) which didn't happen, was just fed up at Zona with coming budget cuts (seems unlikely as he had life rafts outta the place after this year), or was just never interested. Who knows but if Napier is fired this year and Fisch has a shitty year I just can't see our AD selling the fans on him coming off like 4-8 or whatever.
I don’t think he could repeat last year at Arizona tbh. The Big 12 is going to be a dogfight. He was smart to cash out
Why? Surprising success in the best year of the PAC in over a decade and heading to the Big XII with its two best teams leaving, being generally down, and Arizona returning all its top talent.
Yeah I mean I know absolutely nothing about their oline or whatnot but with Fifata back that's gotta be good enough to win 8 or so games at least. I looked at the schedule and wondered if them playing Utah was out of conference, late and inebriated but totally forgot Utah went to the Big 12 as well. Shit is gonna be weird. Yeah if you wanna cash out it's in the SEC with Jimmy Sexton as your agent and us being absolutely desperate without any other big name up and coming coaches at this point.
I hear you but he more than doubled his salary with the UW move and is making about what Napier is making now. There’s also risk of a backslide. It’s easy to sit back and say in February his Zona team would have still been really good and he would have had all these options. Injuries and cfb happens. No guarantees he doesn’t miss the boat after next season and is stuck at Zona.
Tony White is the only name on that list that seems like it could have any semblance of upside. But he'd be a defensive coach at the second-biggest program in LA and that just seems really hard to make work at this point.
Take an interim year and then make deion the biggest offer in ucla football history. Same principle as the chargers: Need an attention grabbing coach for the lil bro football program in town. Get all the black celebs on the sideline the way he did at colorado, the way carroll used to at SC
Interim is the right call. It's what we are doing for basketball. Way better to sacrifice a year than making the wrong hire
Not as much IRA support in Gainesville. BOB funneling money post Brexit to the Belfast IRA seems likely.
