Poles has been 70% great and 30% dogshit. If it wasn’t for the Bryce Young trade those % would be flipped.
the Sam Darnold $10m deal for Minnesota continues to make zero sense given what Mac Jones, Justin Fields, and Kenny Pickett were traded for it's not like Darnold is any more proven or capable than those guys
Also curious if Chicago would have traded him within the division unless the price was overwhelmingly higher.
Most quarterback moves are gambles anyway. So it’s a pretty big potential payout for such a small wager. Smart move.
i think that's clearly their plan but Darnold for $10m is a pretty big outlier compared to the other veterans signing up for the same role - Brissett $8m - Mariota $6m - Winston $4m - Lock $5m - Rudolph $3m
After baker mayfield saved his career in tampa im willing to give borderline QBs a 2nd chance in a real offense before writing them off
Especially someone like Fields who already has shown he has a very obvious skill that translates to some level of competency at the position. Even if he never improves on the timing/not taking sacks/accuracy stuff, the running ability + big play passing ability automatically makes him somewhere between the 20-25th best QB in the league in a given year until he ages or gets too banged up to play that way. Baker was much worse than that for 2 years before last season.
You would think someone who is a fan of a team that resurrected Jared Goff’s career would think like that
For every Mayfield in Tampa and Goff in Detroit, there are dozens of Darnold in Carolina, Rosen in Miami, Trubisky in Buffalo and Pittsburgh, Jameis in NO, Mariota in LV/Atl, etc. Usually bust QBs are just busts
No one seriously thought Atlanta would give 8 for Fields beside Kiper. Schefter threw out Fields + 75 for 20 with Pitt. The insiders said that if Atl missed on Kirk it would be a 2nd and swapping picks 8/9. Like I said, Poles just royally f’d the timing of the whole thing up, showed his cards and misplayed his hand. After FA started the only play left was stashing him till someone’s starter hit IR but he promised Justin he’d “do right by him” and not make him wait.
https://twitter.com/bengals/status/1767715196682850648?s=46&t=bdLPYje6ZcnRGtROeemRHA the Kroger rumor is Tee and 2 1s for JJ
You can’t run an NFL franchise and make these decisions. “The Bears had an additional offer with stronger draft capital from a team with an established starter, per a source, but chose to send Fields to Pittsburgh with the hope of putting the 25-year-old in a position to continue his development -- first as a backup to Wilson and eventually as a starter.”
Agreed overall but grouping all of them together seems off. Some of them showed flashes and it was just a matter of seeing more flashes, some were always shit with no flashes.
Fields has got to be the guy with the biggest gap between what media/fans think of the player and what coaches/GMs think of the player
Hard to believe the Falcons got arguably a better return for Desmond Ridder (Rondale Moore) than the Bears did for Justin Fields.
I don't get letting him go for a 6th. At that point, just keep him. Hell let him start the season and let Caleb sit for a bit. Maybe Fields improves his stock and you get more later. Or he sucks and you move to Caleb. I don't think they were in a position they had to get rid of him to draft Caleb.
I don't think so. They got married during this past season and it wasn't the same woman who he had the kid with when the broken arm thing happened
Timeline for Tyreek's last ~6 months: 1. Gets married 2. Gets hit with multiple paternity suits 3. Files for divorce 4. Claims he never did despite it being public record 5. Gets sued for allegedly injuring a woman at his home 6.Gets in a domestic incident with his with trying to bully her into signing a post-nup. How can anyone function within that amount of self inflicted chaos? That's aside from his house catching fire, which somehow doesn't seem to be his fault amazingly enough.
with the nfl mouthpieces/insiders saying that, I have to imagine there’s some other very stupid reason the bears did this
Chicago media are starting to say this draft class is so bad that a 6th next year is worth more than a better pick this year. Whatever. If Caleb is good it doesn’t matter. (he’ll be a huge bust, we all know it)
Yeah the Bears fucking suck again but gee golly they did a good deed. Put a gold star right next to their name.
