The only reason I know this random factoid is the Golf Channel made a huge deal of them inviting the pitmasters from Salt Lick BBQ in Austin to teach them how to make real Texas brisket for Spieth’s dinner
I’ve seen menus with great parts, but I’m not sure I’ve seen a more complete menu. this is fire 100. Acorn fed Ibericos ham is still the single best tasting meat I’ve ever had (layers to the ratings but I guess i had the highest level). As an owner of a pet pig I also appreciate how awesome they live till they become delicious food. everything is just fire as well. Rahm on LIV sucks ass because he is, literally, spicy as fuck and not Sergio.
lived in Portland, shit was fire, several good restaurants with the style and had the highest graded of that style or ham a single time and I’ll never forget it because it cost like $25 an ounce (pre-pandemic) and I’d buy it again without thinking twice. Boise, ID also has a strong Basque region. That style of food is awesome. I’m sure it’s different in the country but what I’ve had of the above is great.
Stayed at pinehurst. Played my best at #4 (91). Worst at #2 (101). View up 18, which I proudly bogeyed
Review: great place for a guys trip. Having everything you need within a walk or quick trolley ride was great. Thistle Dunes (putting course) and the cradle (9 hole par 3 course) were a blast. The main driving range was closed (hitting into a net 15 feet in front of you) as they were building massive hospitality tents for the open. The cradle will serve as the driving range for the us open. Also learned the world golf hall of fame is moving there. So long, st Augustine.
Copperhead looks so different this week then when I played there. Way more green and rough grown up. I do think this is one of the better courses the players play on for regular tour events (non Riv/Pebble/Kapalua/etc) but it is always at a suboptimal time on the calendar. By better I mean just that it is challenging to tour pros and a good variety of winners between bombers and shorter players.
Way better than a practice round regardless of what the people that haven't been to the real rounds say. Enjoy it.
As someone who has never been - I’m sure the weekend part is due to being clueless on all but about 4 groups or an individual hole. I’m sure both are awesome and can’t wait
Lottery or secondary market? Must be lottery at that price. I really want to take my dad before he’s too old, I’ll have to bite the bullet on expensive tickets since I’m 0fer lifetime lottery wise.
Enjoy it. Practice rounds are fucking amazing. Any chance to get on AN is a life changing experience. Lots of people say practice rounds are better than the actual rounds and they're wrong. Especially considering most of the people that say it haven't been to a real round day. The intensity and vibe is real and you can feel it during the real round. What's your budget for the pro shop? Double it. You won't regret it.
Have you been there? I probably under sold it tbh. It's the closest I've been to a religious experience.
Not to be “that guy,” but this varies with tickets imo. I was in the PGA of America hospitality tent at Bellerive for the PGA Champ on Saturday and Sunday and it was incredible. Helped to have TVs showing the broadcast while watching live golf from the tent.
But the "experience". You enjoy all that you can on a Sunday, take it in and then watch the recorded replay on Monday.
Where does Septic Tank taking $ instead of a superior equipment rank in all time career equipment blunders? He's lost without his Squairz.
Who is Septic Tank and what equipment? I feel like I’m a pretty active golf fan and I don’t even know what this means.
Comparing the practice round when nothing is on the line to the actual tournament when everyone is puckered up and you can hear meaningful roars from across the course isn't even comparable. If/when I ever draw another practice round ticket, I'll obviously go but I'll be disappointed it's not a day when things actually matter. The vibe is infinitely better when each shot matters.
