I will admit that I used to listen to Rogan while playing online poker or sitting in traffic or when I needed some mindless background noise. I probably defended it itt. but if you consistently listen to Rogan for more than a year and don’t realize that he just plays the “greatest hits” as far as conversation topics go then that’s on you. The show is actually unlistenable if you didn’t just find it yesterday. And that’s before you get to the more mask off racism and science denial in the last few years.
Just returning from a family Christmas where Rogan was featured in conversation prominently. Gold and supplements were shown.

I never listened to his podcasts so I didn’t really know when he started to lean into the white supremacy shit. The discussion that lead me to quote that 2022 post was people talking about how some originally thought Rogan was smart. I simply wanted to point I never did. I almost didn’t post it because (like you pointed out) it was so recent. But, when you pointed that out I wanted to show I’ve always been “fuck Rogan he is an idiot “. Just in 2011 I thought he was just an idiot not a racist idiot.

That was the most shocking because idk that I really knew who that guy was until months later and I was pretty tuned in. I remember being flabbergasted they had that guy on and how early in the movement
That was back when Joe would have person A on, be completely convinced by everything that was said. Next week he’d have person B on who refuted everything person A said. Joe again was completely convinced and reversed his position. Basically just adopted the position of last person who spoke with him. Just an impressionable idiot
I simply don't understand how podcasts are that lucrative. I assume the demographics are attractive, but is it a data play more than an advertising value? Both?
He has a lot of listeners and his show is hours every day. That’s a lot of advertising time. I’m shocked at the number but maybe it’s a loss leader type thing.

I have no idea about so much regarding pop culture or whatever but I'm legitimately proud (as someone terminally online for like multiple decades at this point) that I always viewed Rogan as a complete moron who's only notable for asking people if they wanna eat disgusting stuff.
Its actually insane, spotify auto played a pod the other day in the car and wasn't paying all that much attention. But before I turned it off it was SOOO apparent Joe is only getting information from the most right wing slanted publications/people out there. Its beyond parody at this point. He was talking about illegal immigrants crossing the border, getting $2200 from the government, then going back to mexico and doing it again and again making upwards of 8k a month. He also was talking about how there are tons of chinese and middle eastern people crossing the border down there. Also mentioning how immigrants can beat up cops live on TV then be released from prison immediately. O yeah he was also saying what Wheels is doing with busing people to other cities is awesome. Truly enlightening stuff.
It's a perfect storm of someone that worked in some of the most insane industries imaginable (Standup during when it was complete unhinged shit-talking, Network TV, and professional fighters) that now a lot of people treat as a source of factual information.
Think it has more to do with him want to be a contrarian independent thinker. Surrounded by mostly left leaning people so he went the other way. Now he is geeked up about having access to people who also embrace his "contrarian" thoughts.
Gotta be suspicious any time someone like Rogan becomes too self assured in their tone when discussing a topic. Also, when he said “Pegasus program” it reminded me of this meme.
