anybody use a watch winder, might get a dress watch with a moon phase and seems to be the consensus that its too annoying to set to let it die between wears also when I win the lottery and can get a patek perpetual I'll need it, obviously
It’s a good excuse to go into your AD & inexpensively add to your purchase history. I bought a 10 watch display box, and let mine know I would need her help to fill it. Don’t have a winder, but 100% would for a moonphase.
yeah was thinking of dropping in to watches of Switzerland to see what they carry I now have two gmt's that don't have quick set for date since they're true gmt's that I wouldn't mind whichever one I wasn't wearing being on the winder either.
I don’t mind winding & setting my watches, apart from the Nomos Metro. It uses an archaic date function, but is manual wind, so an auto-winder wouldn’t help
The newer Metro are without the date function, but I have the OG with that & power reserve. It’s not bad if it’s been a few days, but if the date is more than 7-10 days, I’m probably just waiting a few weeks to wear it.
My wife got me this a few years back for Christmas. Only two watch holders but it works great. https://www.gilt.com/boutique/produ...dsi=DIR--1c45c077-f0ae-4054-b3e7-010f1a81f259
Yes it accounts for that. I got a wolf one for less that 50% of msrp and it does the job. There's 3 settings depending on what watch you have. 1. Usually a Wolf winder will turn the watch during 4 cycles of ~200 turns in the first 6 hours then stay static for the next 18.
the thing about winders is they are universally pieces of junk and in terms of both finishing and engineering, they're nowhere close to either their price tag or the watches that they hold i have this one: https://www.wolf1834.com/viceroy-triple-winder-with-storage#93=85 bought it used for relatively cheap. my dad had an 8-watch one that i was trying to fix in december because two of the slots had pushed through and didn't hold. wolf doesn't really do repairs but generously offered a 30% coupon or something bullshit like that.
Pretty sure it was like $70 a few years back. I don’t even replace the batteries anymore. My OP41 and BB58 don’t have dates, and my Seiko is worn enough to not need winding.
new acquisition on the left joins its brothers in the winder only really missing some sort of dress watch and possibly some sort of summer watch (though the cartier that i'll eventually get meets both requirements for me). not going to be buying anything for a long time at this point.
I’m getting ready to order some nicer ones and am rotating through some older cheap ones to decide on colors.
I was going to order an Omega one and then Crown and Buckle to compare quality. The Omega is like 6 times the cost. I ended up with a random gift card for $200 to Reeds jewelers and there is nothing else I can think of buying for under $200. I don’t want to spend my own “real” money with them because I have another AD I would rather buy from normally.
Black & grey was already in production and patent was recently filed, so it makes sense to be delayed. Patent filing also included a red/orange bezel for a GMT
I forgot all about the 2 tone black/grey. The deep sea smurf is awesome but yes that's going to be a brick. Curious if that means the JC is gone.
the skydweller looks sweet with the fluted bezel but I'm not buying that watch if I'm buying a gold rolex diamonds on rolexes are dumb
Tudor BB58 GMT has won the morning. 39mm, maintaining 200m WR & shaving 1.8mm in case height… perfect little travel watch now.
Came to post the same thing. Dimensions look flawless. As for the gilt, it is what it is, I don’t love it but that’s me. edit - to be clear, I love the black and gilt, just don’t love it against the red/black combo
I’m not a fan of how the gilt is executed here either, but I get why they did it when accounting for the rest of the collection
For sure, would have encroached too much. I’m surprised they did the monochrome BB58, they’re gorgeous.
