Not even brother vs. brother, but longtime tag partner vs. tag partner (or in those case former tag partners), that was one of the worst matches of that type I have ever seen. Especially given how good Jey actually is as a singles competitor. But let’s not forget to blame the producer of that match as well, Jason Jordan.
There was just no excuse for a crowd to be that quiet for a hot product for Wrestle fucking Mania. I'm just comparing it to the previous years and that was a very disappointing crowd. Mania 29 and 35 weren't warm either and that 35 crowd was better and that was arguably the coldest the product had been since the New Generation. I do agree the commercial breaks Peacock is selling between matches definitely doesn't help. We're talking almost a good 20 minutes between the final bell of the previous match and opening bell of the next match, which is more in line with UFC/Boxing style. Great for beer/piss breaks in the stadium though. I expect everything to be better today though.
I totally get why WWE moved it to a 2-day Mania from a financial and creative standpoint, but kinda feels like when the NFL took R1/R2 off Saturdays for the Draft. Just doesn't have that same single day effectiveness.
Not beating those genes without some serious theraputic exemptions. I've stopped bagigng on Cole because I am affraid we are going to find out he has cancer and doesn't want it public.
I can’t find the tweet now but the bell to bell time between the IC and main event was closer to 40 than 20
Yes and I appreciate the effort they put into making it unique, but Taker's entrance was a step down from the next year in Dallas, but Bray had a really dope entrance if memory serves, but not as good as all the fireflies
Last year was great although it was my first Mania in 20 years. Just from quality standpoint, there probably wasn’t one match last night better than it’s 2023 counterpart.
Shades of: "Daniel Bryan isn't over. "YES!" is over." This is an interesting thing to consider. How much is a WWE superstar over because of the person or the WWE Machine and fan conditioning, etc. I think there's a balance between the two, and it's exposed when guys like Fake Diesel/Razor are booed and hated, but someone with tons of limitations like Baron Corbin can get over with the right gimmick/story. It's not just the "character" but it's also not just the "person" either.
HHH is hell bent on getting his NXT black and gold darlings over on the main roster and DIY and Dunne/Bate and Candice/Indi are still coming out to crickets, although Bully LaRae is actually showing some personality now unlike the others
The seven hour Wrestlemania 34 in Nola was when I discovered what they thought was good didn’t wasn’t what I considered good. Haven’t really watched since. They should’ve absolutely gone to two nights for the ticket and media rights angle. It’s a good business move. Then again, so is Saudi Arabia, but that’s too disgusting to discuss.
Sheamo and Drew are possible KO and Sami got big bags like 18 months ago and hell fucking yeah for them. They’re locked up for most of the decade. AJ on his retirement tour and good for him for that.
AJ is in his Randy Savage 1999 phase where he can't move like he used to so he got mega juiced and will probably be a brawler for the rest of his career. I think the days of him being a walking potential 5 star match with all the flash are over, especially with all the bulk he added
He can probably still do the springboard 360 just off of muscle memory, but beyond that yeah God bless him, get paid good brother.
DIY is a particular act that would thrive in AEW. Great tag team that work well together, but don’t have the IT factor necessary in WWE. Not enough personality to get over but damn they can go in the ring.
I saw that DX entrance on the socials Jesus that was embarrassing You guys are awesome! Stop debasing yourselves!
Watching the three way North American NXT Title match. Why can’t WWE just do a modern take on the Skyscrapers WCW tag team with Dijak and another big guy? He’s really impressive for a tall guy and has been for a while.
Oh Dijak got one foot out the door AEW eating up the corpse of the indies means there is a massive hole. Matt Cardona recognized this early and is making more than he ever made in WWE. So, there’s a market to take advantage of.
Would certainly shake shit up I can’t imagine Drew will leave. But I’m figuring he’s getting the belt tonight. It would be stupid not to.
Glad you boys are joining us cynical m fers that understand no company cares about you and you should ALWAYS chase the bag Triple H the other day was laughably out of touch. Boomer ass shit for real.
I know it gets shit on bc of the finish, but I would be totally OK with something like the HHH vs Sting match being done for the Cody vs Roman match tonight. I thought that was a lot of fun. This needs to be an Avengers End Game type of situation imo.
AEW having guys getting paid big money without putting in the work is a negative for them at the moment. Guys like Miro are making big money to say no to creative and stay home. The main event guys don't wrestle dark matches or do lots of local promotion like Cody. If guys wanna collect the check doing the minimum that's their right but it also leads to them having 1/3 full venues week after week too.
Triple H also talked about leaving a guaranteed contract in WCW for no guarantee but more opportunity in the WWF, so he's always been wired like that. Guys should take the best offer for them though.
Bathing and putting kids to bed after PLEs start sucks so bad on Peacock. If you pause for more than a few minutes it resets to live.
You’re absolutely right. Fuck Miro and whatever he’s going through. I don’t care about his personal failings. He’s used AEW. But it’s absolutely a winning pitch for an Ospreay or Okada, who have that internal drive to not just make money, but cement themselves the best at what they do. Nothing post-Vince is a selling point for people that want to actually, ya know, wrestle. Like, good on Giulia for getting paid. Do what’s best for you. But lol at her having to introduce D2 small forwards to Stardom standards.
