I have heard they've done a lot of work on it by populating it with NPCs and stuff. but all the crafting / building and multiplayer stuff never interested me.
Fallout 3 and NV without mods are gonna feel pretty weird and clunky if you are on console with no mods. Love them both as well as 4. I think you play 4 bc it will feel the most modern and you can get mods easily on Xbox for subsequent play throughs.
the factions stink. the story is somehow worse than FO3. I hate building / crafting. but the gameplay is much better and it still has some of that fallout quirk / charm. sure, not sure how New Vegas would play now. I am sure it would feel weird and outdated. Playing it recently, I love it. the bugs are funny. the story and quests are hilarious. really enjoy the mojave as a setting. bad graphics are just nostalgia for me
tbf, main stories are pretty irrelevant to me. I've played NV for like 25 hours and done 3 main quest missions.
3 and new Vegas probably the best place to start. 4 is great and plays better, but lacks the charm and total feeling of being all alone in the wasteland NV and 3 have. The isolation and dread feeling of the wasteland in 3 and NV is well done
it is a totally different game. so if you prefer 76, that just mean's you always wanted a game much different than FO3 / NV / 4. which is fine, but that's not how most ppl feel. also a complete hipster take to say "actually 76 is the best now that they've tinkered with it for 4 years"
Hey man I think now that they’ve tinkered with it for 4 years it’s actually a lot of fun. Probably the most you can have with a fallout game as of rn. NV and 3 are better games but I’m not sure they are as fun right now.
I am truly glad you love it. just wish it never existed because I would have just preferred FO5. but perhaps this long delay will be good for the quality of the game
i really enjoy the setting in fallout 4. they did some really cool stuff with the map design that worked for me. i appreciated the idea behind adding factions, but the caliber of the writing in new vegas is just so much better. none of the factions in 4 are compelling at all gameplay and visuals for new vegas have aged for sure, which isn't surprising given that they felt kind of dated even when the game first came out. but it's much more playable than 3. i had a lot of fun with it when i fired it up a couple of years ago
I loved New Vegas but there’s a lot of very online New Vegas fans who might need therapy after watching the show
FO4 gameplay absolutely demolishes all the others, the thin story is the only valid complaint otherwise it’s awesome. To me it’s kind of like Skyrim in that most of the fun comes from exploring and finding everything so the setting and world building is more important than plot and FO4 nails it. I think everyone jumped all over it because Witcher 3 was so insanely good around the same time.
it just lacked some of the narrative and silly quests stuff from the prior games that everyone liked. but as long as their is a wasteland to explore, drugs to take, raiders to kill, death claws to avoid, locks to pick, terminals to hack, side and misc. quests to do, and funny NPCs, I'm good with any fallout game.
I enjoyed all modern fallout games* but NV was my favorite overall game for sure. Nothing tops the Liberty Prime shit in the endgame and DLC that fixed the endings tho *FO76 doesn’t count
Yep. Very good timing obviously with the show. I’m actually excited because my game soft locked on the final boss of the first DLC which made me ragequit the game after 120 hours, so there is actually new content I’ve never played.
I had the game with all season pass content on ps4 but I never played any DLC Debating on playing it on PS5 with the update or buying it fresh on PC to mod the shit out of it
Still taking forever to install just like I originally remember, figured it would be a lot faster with ps5 processing vs ps4.

I love modding so much that I spend hours downloading mods and then run out of time to play the game. There are a lot of top 25 lists out there that are great. I always get a mod that makes junk weightless. That’s a game changer for me.
Wish I could save posts so I can come back to this list when I inevitably replay Fallout 4 for the 100th time.
There’s a bug related to the Automatron and Wasteland Workshop DLCs that is causing crashes when they’re downloaded. Supposed to be fixed on April 25.
