Missed it today because I was trying to put in Dave Stewart for the A’s pitcher and saw Dave Henderson and just clicked it without thinking. I’m smart.
I would've sworn on a stack of bibles that Chuck Klein was a Philly A's player rather than a Philly Phils player.
Good to get a chance to use Berman nickname that I'll never forget - "The Pope" Donn Pall. Also laughed at Canseco getting 2% for pitched 1 game/40 WAR.
My only game I attended at the Vet was MIL/PHI. Burnitz was in RF. Phillies fans were constantly hitting him with insults, but Burnitz never looked back. I drunkenly yelled "Hey Burnitz, you're 70% water!". Burnitz actually turned to look back (I have a booming voice), but that was offset by Phillies fans correctly looking at me like I was an idiot.
That .00 career row is one I didn't feel comfortable picking reaches in. Not sure I love that addition.
met Ray Lankford and Bernard Gilkey back in '92. They made fun of me for being a Tigers fan, fuck those guys
Some are complete guesses like Baerga and Ruben Sierra. I knew they had some seasons with a bunch of hits, but wasn’t sure if they passed 200. I was trying to avoid the obvious Clemente, Lofton and Michael Young picks. The team/team ones I am solely on memory. Most of the guys I use are Braves/former Braves when I can and I have a good idea of where they have played before/or after because I usually keep up with them. Others are just some of my favorite players from when I was younger. I remembered Kris Benson was a first round pick because of his wife. I had a huge thing for her when I was younger.
Nope. Sometimes if I’m bored I’ll look up some guys other people have posted just to have in my bank. Or I’ll randomly remember someone and go look at their BR page. I was a huge baseball junkie growing up and was always reading box scores. When I was in the Air Force, I’d talk a lot with the other guys about sports and kept up with other teams and players that way too.
She once claimed that her and Kris Benson had sex in the parking lot or parking garage of every National League ballpark. She also was charged with a 1996 murder, eventually was divorced from Benson, and charged in stalking him.
most of it comes from memory, my friends and I learned about MLB by actually reading the back of the cards to learn about a player and his accomplishments, card packs also had milestone inserts like 100 RBI club or 3K Hits etc. some of it is guess work, some of it is from playing fantasy baseball for 20 years, some of it is I play a fuck ton of MLB Sporcle when it's slow at work.
