I’ve heard that drafting Killian was decided before Weaver was brought on board. If that’s the type of decision making happening it’s definitely problematic. Arn Tellem should have been gone 6 years ago
Malachi Flynn about to have a 40 point game in the NBA. His previous high was 27. He'd scored as much as 20 exactly 7 times.
Killian wasn't scoring 50 a month let alone a game. Side note it is crazy all the bums getting 10 day contracts around league while teams tank and Killian still never got another shot
Didn't even realize they played tonight. Is Cade really hurt again or are they "tanking" again? It's about the only thing they do well whether they try or not
Which is why I'm confused we playing the bum squad again to close the season. Do nba players just not care to finish out a season? Or is our training staff as terrible as the rest of the organization
So the dumbest possible outcome for this Summer is that we don’t fire anyone but we do hire Bob Myers to oversee basketball operations and then we have Myers, Weaver and Williams are leaking to the media about the other two. I think Myers would be a huge disaster here but he’s a big name and Gores LOVES names.
It's amazing guys can just not play in the NBA now because they don't want to, or whatever the excuse is. Amazing how quickly the league basically stopped trying to be competitive most the time
https://www.clickondetroit.com/spor...es-wants-respect-he-must-fire-gm-troy-weaver/ It's refreshing to actually see one media outlet straight up saying Weaver needs to be fired. Would be nice for the media to actually put some pressure on this organization. Because I'm not sure anything actually happens if they don't. Maybe Gores will tell them to try harder again
Funny he was a game time decision like 3 weeks ago and just never played again. Think it's as much an indictment on this team and state of the league as it is anything else. No one cares, no one tries
This pistons blog has a very serious article about “6 free agents to avoid”. For spoilers - 4 of the 6 are on the roster. The other two are Gordon Hayward and Miles Bridges. I love that someone thought this was legit enough to post https://pistonpowered.com/posts/free-agents-detroit-pistons-should-avoid-at-all-costs
MG2 bringing a thought from the NBA thread here - what player ranking would you give Cade? I saw a post on Reddit/Pistons last night saying he was top 10 in the league and I about lost my mind. I could probably see top 40
I don't know how anyone can rank him with the way this year went, the coaching disaster he's playing for, and the ridiculous way in which they've treated his "knee management" in the second half of the season. This knee stuff seems like it is either some real bullshit tanking for no reason or a legitimately big deal that no one seems interested in asking about. I think in a normal circumstance he's pretty clearly a top 50ish player in the league, but unfortunately this circumstance is not normal.
Cade is made of glass. He's no even top 100. If they're ranking top 10 in something, he might make the list for being one of the 10 fattest in the league.
I don't have the athletic. Does he suggest anyone will be fired or just that the "sweeping changes" are we are going to hire another stooge
Basically the expectation is Gores hires someone to oversee Basketball Ops and they have the power to make any changes they see fit.
I don't want to even consider the atrocious candidates who would be willing to take on the role as the head of basketball ops here knowing that he would be stuck with at least Monty and probably Weaver. Why would anyone with any career ambition take that?
Jam3s put out a list of five names the Pistons should look at to lead basketball ops and it’s absolutely hilarious and sad Jon Horst - if he leaves Milwaukee, sure. John Hammond - come on Neil Olshey - didn’t win shit and was fired for presiding over a toxic work environment Bryson Graham - never heard of him Dwayne Casey - lol come on
I literally don't care who the fuck they hire for that spot nor will I follow it. It's a ploy to distract you into thinking they are doing something when they really are just bringing in another stooge and not cleaning house. Complete joke it seems Weaver and Monty are going to survive
I’m just assuming this is who we will draft after drafting Doumbouya and Hayes lately. Weaver loves the French
The top of the draft is very French. France is doing a great job of developing players (Killian’s shooting woes and lack of development aside)
May be the first local team I just write off. If they aren't going to be a serious organization why should anyone treat them seriously
