I read this earlier. It's infuriating. like, what the fuck is this shit doing in the Washington Post in an article that's essentially about a lying grifter who is teaching a fictional view of America (both past and present)?
if you ever want a deep dive into this, google the New York Times coverage of the Spanish Civil War (or reporter William Carney) From a Time magazine article in 1938:
Ya wanna see who the Times once wrote a Glowing PR story about..... Spoiler https://www.nytimes.com/1939/08/20/...-clouds-high-up-on-his-favorite-mountain.html HERR HITLER AT HOME IN THE CLOUDS; High up on his favorite mountain he finds time for politics, solitude and frequent official parties. HERR HITLER IN THE CLOUDS MUNICH. BERCHTESGADEN, where Hitler has spent most of his Summer, is the home of his own choice. When he was still editor of the Voelkische Beobachter and little more than an adventurous figure among the scores of German party leaders he bought a little country house on a foothill of one of the three Alpine peaks which dominate the Berchtesgaden valley.
Just got an email that my student loan has been forgiven and now I wish to take back any criticism that I may have voiced/written about our great president.
Think he’s a crazy porn fiend so auto erotic asphyxiation should be on the bingo card. but alas, it’s an election year so no scotus appointments
Awesome for you. Very jealous my wife got loans through some quasi federal program that apparently will never get forgiveness
Wife got hers this week too, didn’t realize they followed up with the email. The email itself is pretty badass, does a good job of explaining what he’s trying to do for people
I will say Biden has fought tooth and nail for student loan forgiveness, obviously you always wish for more but in the face of the GOP and Supreme Court sabatoging every step, he's made a big impact for a lot of people imo
I should have went to work in the public sector. At least my payment is only like $38/month on the new plan. Congrats on getting them forgiven. That’s great news for anyone that gets it.
Were you on IBR and moved to SAVE? My free $0 year (from refreshing my IBR after being part of a company wide layoff) of not paying student loans is almost up and I was considering switching.
Or why some events and venues can’t just sell tickets on another platform. Ticketmaster doesn’t own the actual entertainment so how do they even have that leverage?
Made me check my account. Balance $43k and due to be paid off in 2037. After wiping away the tears, I'm very happy for all of you that got the relief.
Clock is ticking on the nyt headline: Joe Biden forgave their student loans, but that only pushed them closer to Trump
Why these people took the savings from having their student loans forgiven by Biden and used it to purchase DJT.
The Biden administration is expected to deny permission for a mining company to build a 211-mile industrial road through fragile Alaskan wilderness, handing a victory to environmentalists in an election year when the president wants to underscore his credentials as a climate leader and conservationist. The Interior Department intends to announce as early as this week that there should be “no action” on the federal land where the road known as the Ambler Access Project would be built, according to two people familiar with the decision who asked not to be named because they were not authorized to discuss the decision. A formal denial of the project would come later this year, they said. The road was essential to reach what is estimated to be a $7.5 billion copper deposit buried under ecologically sensitive land. There are currently no mines in the area and no requests for permits have been filed with the government; the road was a first step. Blocking the industrial road would be an enormous victory for opponents who have argued for years that it would threaten wildlife as well as Alaska Native tribes that rely on hunting and fishing. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/16/climate/ambler-road-alaska-interior.html
Different projects. Say the road is a project to give access to rural areas, then once the road is built file for the mining permits.
Yep, some of my favorite local venues are owned by AEG. It sucks but i guess the one plus side is that these big corps are good at booking good acts.
