So, I preordered the vinyl, wonder if it’ll come as a double album, or will need to purchase the 2nd part.
Easy to forget with her insane levels of success that she’s only 34. Still has decades left for her life experiences to shape her lyrical content.
Oh, Taylor didn't write the perfect anthem for your state? Sorry, can't relate. https://genius.com/Taylor-swift-florida-lyrics
So High School is the Travis song that’s obvious, but I think The Alchemy has some lines that point to Travis
Sheeeeesh And maybe you've reframed it And in your mind, you never beat my spirit black and blue I don't think you've changed much And so I changed your name, and any real defining clues And one day, your kid comes home singin' A song that only us two is gonna know is about you
Halfway through. Favorite track so far: I can do it with a broken heart Least favorite track: Florida!!! (even though it features Florence)
I mean this is mainly a Healy album except for the Kim K diss track But Daddy I Love Him is about the Swiftie response to her dating scumbag Healy
Joe’s album is Lover which turns out is an ironic title I guess So Long London is obv her goodbye song to him
oh man. it's a deep cut but it started with Kim's ex husband Kanye doing the "imma let you finish" thing at the VMAs. then he put out a song where he said "taylor i made that bitch famous" and said something about fucking her. idk i don't listen to kanye. but it was vulgar an inappropriate. so taylor is pissed and speaks out against it kanye claims they talked on the phone and she okayed it. Taylor denies. Kim then releases a video of the conversation where it seems like Taylor agrees to the lyrics. but it was actually an edited video depicting a conversation that didn't occur. she then unleashes her crazy fans on taylor and all these folks on the internet turn on taylor and comment the snake emoji on all her shit. basically accusing her of being a liar and claiming she is a false victim . Taylor caught a lot of shit from big kardashian fans. this was like around 2016 or 2017 i believe. eventually the complete video of kanye having the phone conversation with taylor surfaces and it is revealed that they didn't really discuss the lyrics and kanye and kim were big fat liars. kim never apologizes and basically just drops it. taylor has rightfully held a grudge ever since.
IIRC Taylor went pretty much completely dark for like 2 years around this time because she was catching so much heat. 1989 was a massive hit and an all-time album then she kinda falls off the face of the earth due to all of this BS. Then she drops Reputation which was kinda the beginning of her ascent into what she is today. I think in Ms Americana she talks about how much of a people-pleaser she was and how obsessed she was with everyone liking her/making everyone happy. Then all this happened and kinda broke her for awhile. When she came back she felt more mature and seemingly more ready to tell assholes to fuck off
This is really good. Sucks he wrote it before the 2nd album dropped, but the overall theme would still stand and he comments on it in other posts anyway.
That song perfectly illustrates how melodramatic and frankly...embarrassing...her lyrics have gotten. She dated the dude for a summer (admitted it, in the song). And goes as far to say she would have died for his sins (?). Just sounds like he was no longer interested. Props to him for ghosting her. My take away from the song is that it's a crime to just not be interested in her any longer after dating for a short period. At what point to Switfties have any self awareness how self indulgent and try-too-hard her lyrics are?
The album is good but my god woman get it together about dating a trash man that everyone in the world knew was trash for a few months. It's lame.
swifties spend days pouring over lyrics and instagram posts to find carefully hidden clues that provide a greater meaning to her music while being indifferent to (or in some cases celebrating) how carefully constructed every aspect of her life and persona are
