It would help weed businesses not have to rely on having large sums of cash and clear up some of the legal gray areas. So much safer for business owners and, perhaps more importantly, the people they employ. Also, maybe help clean up the organized crime part of the industry.
Good questions, I don't know. I thought a major issue on the financial side of things is how it's scheduled (Schedule 1 -- no legitimate use, or something).
It will be interesting to see how the feds thread the needle as they attempt to legitimize marijuana. Schedule 3 medications currently require a prescription and dispensed from a clinic/pharmacy. Will this change result in closure of recreational shops? I doubt it but the feds have created such a bizarre mess when they decided to let states do as they pleased.

I recall it being the shops were in violation of federal law. And unless there is a prescription involved, the recreational shops will still technically be in violation.
I don't think we'll see recreational shops close, but we're way past the point of needing some uniform Federal testing guidelines for what shops are allowing to be sold. There's some straight up cancer being sold in some of these places. How much mold is allowed? How much pesticides, and which ones? What happens to fungicides that might be ok if they're applied on an apple orchard when they're on a plant that gets smoked? What are the byproducts? What kinds of solvents are allowable for thc extraction in concentrates and edibles?
Right, and I think if President Trump decides he wants to direct the DEA to start busting shop owners, he could certainly do that. I don't think he will though, mostly because of who owns and bankrolls the shops (and/or who is using the current massive "gray area" / crypto bro system to launder huge piles of money)
