It pretty much follows the same blueprint as the Martian right? I've heard that a bunch. Are you liking this one better?
about 15% in Yes and no. We’ll get some people that have finished it to weigh in, I’m sure, but a lot of people have said it’s his best one. I can certainly see Martian similarities but from a completely different angle.
I enjoyed it more than The Martian. would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed that or likes science fiction (or just good novels).
I’m halfway through. Started it earlier and can’t put it down. Martian-ish. I’m enjoying it more than the Martian.
Finished it in two days. Quick read. It's fun like the Martian. Did not love the direction they went at the end with it. If you like the Martian you'll like it though.
I'm halfway through this now, like it a lot and hard to put it down. That said, first book I'm reading by him -- I have an issue with how he's written his main character. He's just too immature sounding or something, like a snarky teenager a lot of the time. That tone seems off for a brilliant scientist on a critical mission like this. But it hasn't made me not like the book or anything.
Just finished this one. I’d give it a solid 8/10. Fun book. Quick 2-3 day read depending on how long your reading sessions are. I wasn’t nuts about the ending but it was a good time regardless.
I just finished my re-read of this one, the first I time I read the entire thing - this time I mostly listened to audio book, and have to say the audio book was great. It is still easily one of my all time favorites.
But have heard the audio book is amazing and I have a 7 hour kayak fishing trip on Thursday and love audio books
I’m like 6 chapters in but I’m hooked. Threw it on and rode my e-bike around town, to lunch, and threw some state parks. It’s a nice break from all the names, place, magic and stuff I typically read/listen too. The narrator does a great job. It kind has the same vibe I think Sanderson was going for in his wizard secret novel book he wrote. Looking forward to more of what happens.
Loved this book. Felt a little rushed at the end after all the build up and think he could have went a bunch of different ways with the ending but was just pure enjoyable Audiobook. Was really cool how everything just started to integrate etc.
Spoiler I thought the ending was great. Think it felt rushed bc we were expecting the next part, Grace getting home. Nooope. Loved it
Spoiler i like the ending as well. It made sense bc he had no friends at home but still accomplished his mission. He was able to get back to doing what he loved and spend time with his friends. He never waned the fame or ra ra. Just think they coulda went a bunch of different ways with it. It just felt rushed. We spent 7/8 of the book figuring out the solution and I kinda wanted more of the how it fixed the planet. The way him and rocky figured out a language and gradually started to just understand each other. It flowed perfectly in the auidobook
