I did not read all post in the thread, so this question might have been asked before. I am looking for a new TV for my bed room that has Netflixs on it and got to wondering does anyone use any other tv internet app other than netflixs? All the apps on my TV in the living room is crap to me.
Has anyone ever had a bulb go out? I've got a 50" DLP Samsung that I've had to replace more than once.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toshiba-32C...5267&_trksid=p1468660.m2000036#ht_1414wt_1185 32" Bedroom TV for $250. New, no tax, no shipping. Nice deal. If you need a bedroom TV (no apps though) for cheap, this is a really good deal. I would jump on it.
Never had one before, but I thought the life is supposed to be at least 4000 hours with many get 8-10K.
So I decide to go with a Mitsubishi wd-65738. Was going to buy the 638 tomorrow but I found the 738 on TigerDirect for cheaper. Its open box though. $899 shipped. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6758798&CatId=1830 http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/product/WD65738
speaking of tiger direct - they're having their liquidation/hdtv week right now. a bunch of tvs marked way down. if you're in the market, id check over there
I haven't yet but I know for a fact you can negotiate. Also, you may have better luck trying to include some accessories with that price rather than just a straight price drop. Just a thought.
nice but fear the open box Yep I get the same spam e-mail. Would drop a dime on Vizio E470VA 47" Class LCD HDTV but it does not have netflix and that is a must.
I did a little research on open box from TigerDirect and people said worse case is a cosmetic blemish. Its going in a man cave so I can deal with that. Plus it has the manufacturers warranty so anything major will be covered. Still im crossing my fingers.
I just have heard returns with them aren't always very smooth or easy and this would be for my parents so not sure I want to potentially put them in that situation. Plus my Dad wanted a 73" or 82" anyway.
Yea I understand that. Alot of my family and my gfs family have me order electronics for them and its a pain in the ass when somethings wrong. I really hope I dont have to return this thing, the closest store is like an hour and a half away. Im hoping for the best though.
Hey guys, I bought this tv a few months ago http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung...HDTV/2128142.p?id=1218310411733&skuId=2128142 and while the picture quality is amazing when playing a blu ray, I find that the quality for my U Verse tv and Blu ray movies on my WDTV live are a little worse than I desire. I know that the general rule of thumb is that all hdmi cables are the same, but with newer 3d tvs do you think that one of the fancier high speed cables would help improve my picture quality enough to justify the price? The guy at best buy tried to get me to buy one but I wasnt about to let him influence me without checking around first.
no. also, it's been mentioned that UVerses's HD is quality if pretty bad and unless you're getting untouched rips, the quality through the WDTV will be worse than blu-ray
as np13 said, im pretty sure uverse has the lowest bitrate of all the hd solutions since its basically dsl being used to deliver tv internet and phone, probably why it looks so shitty. As a point of reference going from my cable to my parents cable, its obvious that my provider gives a much less compressed feed and even shitty cable is usually decent quality.
As far as tv calibration goes, what do you guys recommend? Do you those dvds they sell in stores work well or is it better off paying the extra $ for a professional
How is sony doing in TV's today? With Google TV can a person just about look at anything on the web? Or a site will need to have a APP?
I have google tv and most content works. Unfortunately silverlite site don't work. Havnt had any luck with espn3 either. I use my xbox for espn3 so I only tried it once on google tv as more of an experiment.
Nice After looking more into this found other devices that does the same thing. Apple TV or Roku XDS is better than the Logitech?
Not sure I have never tried those. I was under the impression that the only Google tv devices were the logitech and Sony boxes.
Well yes I think logitech and sony is the only ones that have google tv. The other boxes I name does the same thing as google tv as in search the net and use app ect..
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...i_cntr=1315326798569&sid=I0084400010000100383 Thoughts on this one? My sister wants a large tv and she's never had a good tv and doesn't want to spend over 500. I've always said no to plasma but I think they are ok now.
My new Mitsubishi DLP came today. Question, is it bad to use the tv in Brilliant/vibrant mode? Will it go through the bulb a ton faster?
Through months of research I've come to this conclusion: The only "good" deals on TV's are on TV's with shitty contrast ratios
Here is one http://www.tweaktv.com/tweak-my-tv/ or you could also check these forums http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=9
Can't find mine on those. It's a vizio XVT3D554SV, there's a couple that are close but aren't 3d. Not sure how much of a difference that would make.
Here is a 41 page thread about it. Not sure if they have any settings for it though. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1289112 edit: found this in that thread http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=20817234&highlight=calibrate#post20817234
I know we are still a few months away from Black Friday, but what kind of Holiday deal are to be expected this year? I know last year there were a bunch of deals that were so good that people bought a tv just because the deal was so good.
I'm highly considering buying this TV http://dealnews.com/Refurbished-LG-42-120-Hz-1080-p-LCD-HDTV-for-410-free-shipping/506117.html
Picking this up tonight, it's bundled with a 3d blu ray player and 2 pairs of glasses, not a bad deal. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN51D...8HYW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318856593&sr=8-1
I don't care about the weight, and sunlight isn't an issue because I watch TV at night or can close the blinds, so I'm going with plasma for the picture quality and mainly the refresh rate. ~60 inch From looking around for about an hour it seems Samsung and Panasonic are the best right now, and LGs are pretty decent for about $500 less. What do you think TMB? Any thoughts on that, ideas, suggestions?
I just bought a 51" Sammy, it is incredible, highly recommended. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN51D550-51-Inch-1080p-Plasma/dp/B004MN8HYW
According to slick deals you get the 47'' LG 1080P 120hz LED-LCD tv + 4GB Xbox + Halo Combat for $897.00 and free shipping. Also not sure if this is a good deal but I assume it is pretty decent thinking the LG probably normally sells by itself for around $800 but I'm just guessing here. Too lazy to sign up and go through the process to see if the deal is still valid but here's the link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Combo...tion-_-cables-_-na-_-na&ItemList=Combo.757578
US Appliance has 59" Samsung PN59D550 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV + 2 Pairs of SSG-3050GB 3D Glasses for $627 with free shipping. Must add to cart and fill out address and payment information to see final price. Thanks cubsoxbull http://www.us-appliance.com/pn59d550.html
Did it work when you filled all the stuff out, by work I mean the price really go down to $627 or whatever? No Idea, I'd like to buy it if the deal were true but I'm too poor but I figured I'd pass it along in case others wanted to try I just like to look at things I can't buy and post them for those that can
